FABULOUS GIRL - Scrapbook Nerd

Hi there!
It is sketch week at Scrapbook Nerd, which means the entire DT will be inspired on the same sketch to create a project of their choice.  But first let me show you the sketch:

Right away, i knew that i wanted to replace the circle with a cut file, so I pulled a heart wreath cut file from Handipaper and cut it from white cardstock, at the same  time i created all the butterflies that will replace the small circles of the sketch.

I backed the cut out with papers from the Pinkfresh Studio's Joyful collection, and the butterflies with papers from the Simple and Sweet collection.

I followed the sketch to where the placement of the title and embellishments, in this case the butterflies.  The large puffy words from the Joyful collection work nicely to set the title of the page.

Just like in the sketch, i added strips of paper to the top and bottom of the page, and used some of the butterflies to create a visual triangle that guides your eye through the entire layout.  A few lines of journal in a tag, and some gold  ink complete this page.

HAPPINESS IS HOMEMADE - Scrapbook Nerd

This week the Scrapbook Nerd DT will be working projects based on this month's color challenge.   What can I say this challenge is perfect for my "Black and white with a shade of rainbow" obsession.

It all started with building the background using the Pinkfresh Studio watercolor collection on a piece of Vicki Boutin foundation paper that had been gessoed. 

While the background dried, the chevrons (1in wide) for this project were created from the 6x6 Joyful Day paper pad -Pinkfresh Studio- and Flower Market collection - Carta Bella-.   These were stitched to the background.

A second set of smaller chevrons  (0.5in wide) was stitched to the bottom right corner of the page, followed by the title -i used word stickers from the Joyful Day collection and Puffy Alphas from the Everyday Musings collection both from Pinkfresh Studio-.

Once the picture was set in place, small clusters of embellishments were set around it.  I chose to color block the embellishments so that they match the color of the background.   All that was left to add was a few lines of journal and some drops of gold ink.  Here is the final layout:

 I love the colors of the layout, and how the black and white papers ground the page, and  contrast and combine seamlessly with the colors and papers.  I have created a small video on how this came together (forgive the stuffy sound of my voice, as i am fighting a bad cold at the moment!)

GIRL POWER - Scrapbook Nerd

I am back today with a new project for Scrapbook Nerd.  This time, I used the soft and super pretty Joyful Day collection from Pinkfresh Studio to create a new project all (available at the store right now) about my babies,  our Goddaughters.

It all started with a cut file from Handipaper, as soon as i saw it all i can think of was this picture and the collection.  I used my Silhouette software to create an offside of the title and handstitched it.   Once it was all done, i used some Vicki Boutin Watercolor markers to add the vivid color in the letters. 

I wanted something really soft for this page's background, so i chose a soft pink cardstock from my stash.  First glued the cut file straight to the page, and nestle the picture under it (I backed the picture with a paper from the Joyful Day collection).  Next, I chose to cut a slit at the top and bottom corner of the page and fold the papers so that they create a small gap.

I backed the space with a paper from the collection in the 6x6   and 12x12 form, and then used a few stitches to hold the folds together.  Next i added clusters of ephemera and stickers from the Joyful Day collection at the folds and picture.  To finish the page, i used some foam adhesive to add a few butterflies around the page (the cut file is also from Handipaper), followed by a few drops of white and gold ink.
