Hello!,

My kids are obsessed with Snapchat, and it seems that my little niece and nephew cannot get enough of the picture filters, this app offers.   I wanted to document the many different pictures they alter of themselves; so i ventured to create a layout that showcased them.

I started by cutting Ashley Horton's heart background cut file -designed for Hip Kit Club -.  I chose to only cut the bottom corner of the cut-outs.  I backed the hearts with papers from the Fancy Pants, and two shades of vellum from my stash.  I used back stitching to mimic the look of the cut-out onto the plain white cardstock hearts.

I created a collage of the pictures of the 4 kids, and used some of the papers in the collection to backed the picture.   The cluster in the picture is made up of ephemera and stickers from the collection.

Since i am using the nice wood paper, I chose to use the puffy alpha stickers from the collection.  I attached them to the layout, and used a Sharpie to mark some of  the edges of the letters.

It is fun to see my kids and the little cousins's Snapchat pictures.  I am glad i stole these shots from my son's account.

Now to work on a new layout, I go.

Hello there!,  

I hope you are all enjoying this Labour Day weekend.   My kids, as i am typing this, are prepping their backpacks for the new school year.  As of tomorrow, they will be both high schoolers!!!  -where has time gone-, but  this is a topic for another time.  

I have so many summer pictures to document, and in my hopes to reduce my stash, i decided to use Ashley Horton's sketch for Hip Kit club to create a layout about our many road trips.  I am also using this layout to complete a challenge from Scrapbook Nerd's Summer camp.  For this layout,  I used different papers from Pink Paislee's Outfitters collection to create the banners.   I secure them all with a few lines of machine stitching.

After the banner was secured to the page,  i added a picture of me while enjoying one of our roadtrips along with a few stickers. cut-outs and ephemera pieces from the collection.  For the title, I chose to use one of the collection's banners, and secured it to the picture by using a small wood veneer , and some glue.

I added a small cluster of pieces from the collection at the bottom, and secure them all with a few sewing machine stitches.   I used one of the cut apart cards to add my lines of journal on the bottom of the page.  To complete the page, I used some color shine to add some ink splatters around the page.  Here is the completed layout:

I really love the simplicity of the layout, but all the small details that are hidden around the banners.

Now, I am off to clean my house, before my vacation starts tomorrow.

Hello!,

I have started creating layouts for all my nephew's birthday party pictures.  Here  is the first of many to come.

We all love this picture of my mom and my nephew on his birthday.  It just shows the bond my mom has with each of her grandkids.  So to capture the feeling, i pulled an Ashley Horton  cut file design for Hip Kit club (free download) and enlarge it so that it cover half of my layout.   Once i had sized it, i set the Silhouette Cameo to perforate the edges, instead of cutting them, and i get the perfect spaced dots to stitch.

I picked happy colors for the script.  It took a few hours of
work -I usually do it while watching tv-

Once I finished the stitching (it took me a few nights),  I went ahead and color inside the edges of the script using shimmering watercolors from Michaels.  At first I was not sure of  how it was looking, so I threw a second coat of the same shimmery watercolor, and voila!, the effect was incredible.

I added splatters of the watercolors along each respective edge.

I chose to print the picture in black and white to make sure it popped next to the script.  I simple mat and just a layer of paper from MME's Jubilee collection that matched the colors of the script.  I wanted to highlight the picture, so i used a small amount of embelishments.  A few tags (one of my faves), and some cut outs were enough to finish the page.

Finally I trimmed a half inch across all edges of the white cardstock, and attached it, using the sewing machine, to a  striped white and black paper mat ( i usually just cut an edge mat about 1.5 inches wider than needed) A few lined of journaling for future reference, and it was done.  I love the finished result, it makes me Happy.
