Trouble Cutie

Scrapbook Layout created for Clique Kit's pep rally  -  TROUBLE CUTIE  -

Hello there!

It is PEP RALLY day over at Clique Kits, it is our opportunity to show you all what the DT and subscribers have created with this month's beautiful "PLAY" kit.  This kit featured Shimelle's Little by Little collection's papers and embellishments which were perfect to document our littlest (my nephew).

I have had this pie cut file from Elle's Studio in my library for quite some time.  Since I wanted to use color, I picked the b side of the A to Z paper to cut the image.   I backed the some of the empty spaces with papers from the collection, and attached the cut out to a light mint color card stock, which was trimmed by about a half inch on each side, this was then attached to a white card stock frame, which was then attached to the a side negative part of the A to Z paper, all was secured with machine stitching.

This little cutie's picture was framed with embellishments from the collection, and some of the Clique Kits exclusives.

Using the embellishments from the kit, and lots of the exclusives, a small cluster was formed on the  upper corner of the cut out.   I used the tag to add my journal lines on the layout.

Recently, I purchased the AC thicker aligment guide, and was able to properly curl the title to fit into the cut out.   I used the foam thickers from the "PLAY" kit add ons, and the alphas from last month's kit,  After a few ink splatters, here is final layout:

I love how my cute nephew's picture is surrounded by color and beautiful embellishments. This is just one of the many ideas that the kit had provided this month.   You can check more of what the team has created by visiting the Clique Kits website.

AS always, leave me a message if you have any question on how this came together.

Take care!

Hello Fun

Scrapbook Layout created for Silhouette Savvy Series for Scrapbook Nerd  - Hello Fun -

Hello there!

Today,  I am up on the Scrapbook Nerd blog with a new entry to the Silhouette Savvy Series.  This time, I am using the free Ho Ho Holidays cut file (available at the Scrapbook Nerd Store) to create a  new image of a star filled with flowers/firework bursts.  Just click here to be directed to the blog post.

Once the image was cut, the #2 paper from the Take me Away collection was used to back the image.   This was then cut and glued to the foiled heart paper form the Oh My Heart collection paper pad.   All the color images were cut with the same cut file from papers from the 6x6 pad of the collection.  These were glued to the star shape with different size foam adhesive, a small puffy sticker was added to the center of these to add more color to the cuts.

The image of my niece flying on her bed (this layout is going to her album) was framed with different embellishments from the collection.  The journal was added around the  star.

To ground and balance the page, I added a small strip of paper from the collection along with a cluster of embellishments and scraps at the left bottom corner of the page,  Here is the final layout:

I have created a small video on how this page came together,   I hope you enjoy:

I  hope you enjoyed the video.  I love to transform cut files, and create a unique design for my pages.  Can you believe this was a Christmas cut file.   Don't forget to check the Scrapbook Nerd Blog to find the tutorial on how the background image was created.  Remember I am a comment away if you need assistance.

Take care!

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd -  4  -

Hello crafty friends!

It looks like Spring is not willing to come yet, and once again we are having Winter visit us.   My cure for the winter blues is to work with colors.  For the past weeks, I have been crushing on colors, and the first project for Scrapbook Nerd is a perfect example of my dreams and wishes.

My little nephew turned "4" a few weeks ago, and we got together to celebrate the little (i came home with 400 pictures :) ).   To document this special occasion, I pulled the super colorful Joy Parade collection from Fancy Pants.   Using the  Abstract Angle cut file from the Cut Shoppe, and an alphabet from the Silhouette Store, the cut-out was created.

Celebrations are always filled with confetti, so a shaker element was in order.   For this I simply substracted the "4" image from the Abstract Angles cut file in the Silhouette software (there will be a tutorial on this in the near future).  Some of the  triangles were backed with papers from the collection, and the 4 was backed with vellum.   The hand stitching adds texture to the layout, but it also helps to secure the sequins from going everywhere.  This can easily be achieved by adding the sequin and glitter before the last 20 stitches are added.

The picture of my little nephew blowing his candle was framed with pieces from the collection.  The little party hat was just a cute add-on to the picture.

To complete a visual triangle,  a small cluster of the collection's ephemera was created at the bottom of the cut-out.   This collection is filled with beautiful die cuts that can be used not just for birthdays, but any celebration during the year.   Here is the  final layout:

The ending look of this layout is striking, and fun.   Though there are not a lot of details in the layout, the focus is on the shaker element and the black and white picture.   I hope this serves as inspiration for your work.   Remember to visit Scrapbook Nerd to check all the materials used in this layout.  You can always contact me with any questions on how this came together.

Take care!
