SKETCH SUNDAY - Citrus Twist Kits

Hi there!
Nathalie with you today with this week's Sunday Sketch.  I am always amazed at how easy it is to complete a layout when you use a sketch as inspiration, and this week's sketch is sure to be one that can be adapted in many ways.  But before i showed you what i created, let me show you what my inspiration is:

It is such a fun and layered design that i used to create 2 layouts one for my Life Crafted album, and this layout:

I love the double picture feature of the sketch, so i pulled a few pictures of my weird daughter's selfie poses and created a page using this month's Add-on kit.

It all started with a bit of mixed media on the background using Pinkfresh Studio watercolors that you can find in the CTK shop.  I picked colors that would match the papers in the kit.  While the background dried, i worked on the paper layers by following the sketch.

To embellish the page, i pulled pieces from the add-on kit  -love all the Crate Paper's "All Heart" collection goodies included in the kit"- cut apart elements and pieces from the Excursions kit.

The sketch calls for strips of paper to be stitched to the top and bottom of the page, i kept the bottom as in the sketch, but chose to rip a bit of the top to create a small slit in the layout, and bring some extra paper from the add-on kit to the page.   To finish, i added my lines of journal and  some extra stamping using the add-on stamp set.  The following video will show you how it all came together:

Love all the color and distress of the page, but now i want to show you how i used the sketch to create a page on my Family album:

For this page, i flipped the sketch so that it would fit the album.    To start, i decided to replace the stitched paper strips with a detailed edging  (i used an Altenew border die for this), and to use one of the TN Digital papers for the one side of the page -this way i can have my lines of journal printed along with the paper-.

I used pieces from the EXCURSIONS kit to create my title and the small cluster you see on the top right corner of the sketch.  To create the small cork chevron, i cut one of the cork stickers from the Excursions kit and add it as a marker on the page.

I kept the layers and position of the pictures as it is marked on the sketch.   Love having all those colorful papers in the Excursions kit that mix and match easily on this page.  To embellish, i pulled repetitive elements to that they create a visual triangle with the title.  A few drops of black ink (even on my album!)  complete the page.

I hope this inspires you to pick up a copy of the sketch and create a project of your own in your favorite memory keeping format.  Remember to share with us what you create, we love to be inspire by you.

Hi there!

Hello there!

Nathalie DeSousa   <<< you are here

I was so excited to receive the new Beautiful Butterflies Stamp set, as i love butterflies. So, i pulled my family album (Citrus Twist Kits exclusive) and decided to create a layout about my newest baby cousin.

To bring the colors in the picture forward, i started with adding a bit of color to the background. For this i used a compass to draw a circle on the layout, and then used Vicki Boutin art crayons and stenciling brush to add the blush pigment to the inside of the circle.  Next, using a paper piercer, a stitching guide was created around the circle.  Before hand stitching the entire circumference, i used the Threaded Crafting Dies to create a border around the entire edge of the layout.

The three butterfly images from the Beautiful Butterflies Stamp set was then used to create a series of embossed pieces on vellum.   I used clear, white and rose gold embossing powder to create the butterflies,  but used color ink to stamp the outlines, so that when the wings are folded up, a different color will show at the bottom of each butterfly.

Once all the butterflies were fussy cut, i started building the layout.  Once the picture was put in place, i used clear glue dots to adhere the butterflies around the circle.  The colors and sizes of the butterflies alternate so that there is movement in the page.

To balance the layout, the title was placed at a diagonal position from the picture.   This was created by stamping one of  the Beautiful Butterflies stamp set sentiments on a tag -created with the Essential Stitched Labels Die.    A few more embellishments ( Blush collection from My Mind's Eye) and a few lines of journal complete this page:

I love how this turned out, and how easy it was to put together using the Beautiful Butterflies Stamp Set.   I hope this inspires you to check this and all the new releases at the Technnique Tuesday Shop.

Now it is time to join Seeka at her blog to be inspired by her beautiful projects!

Thanks for stopping by, remember you can always contact me with any questions.

ALTENEW MAY 2019 STAMPS/DIE/STENCIL/INK/ENAMEL PIN RELEASE BLOG HOP + GIVEAWAY

hi there!
Welcome to the Altenew May 2019 Stamp/Die/Stencil/Ink/Enamel Pin Release Blog Hop + Giveaway.  You must be arriving from May's blog!   Altenew has just released a brand new set of stamps, dies, stencils, inks and some super cute enamel pins.   I am always so excited when Altenew invites me to take part of their release celebrations, and this time the products are sure to have been so inspiring, i couldn't put them down.   So let me show you what i have created:

One of the first things i added to my product list once i received the catalogue was the Fine Floral Bouquet Die.   I love the delicate edge, and how versatile it can be, so i decided to use it to create  a layout for my Family album (Citrus Twist Kits).   My thought was to replicate a lace border, so i cut a few of the images from white paper.

Once they were glued in place,  i added my picture (backed with papers from the Summer Garden paper pad) and then created a compound title using the new The Best Thing stamp set, BAF Snapdragon, and BAF Sweet Violet sentiments.   A few embellishments from the Live Your Dream collection, and Enamel dots complete this page.  The following video will show you how it all came together.

Love how the delicate die cuts frame the picture and the entire page all together, plus all the sentiments clustered to form a title, just loved it...  Now let me show you another layout created with the Delicate Clusters Stamp and Die Set and lots of color.

The new Delicate Clusters Stamp and Die set is gorgeous, and i just pulled my   Altenew mini cube ink collection and started using the color sets to create a few blooms of each color, i wanted Spring in my page.

To bring more color to the page, i started with a paper from the Reflections Scrapbook collection, and then embossed the title using the Ombre Alpha Stamp set.

To finish the page, a few colorful butterflies from my stash and a few wood veneer pieces from the Altenew collection.  Just love the colors and movement in the flowers, and how everything just shows Spring on a page..

One of the new releases is the A Walk In The Woods stamp set, and probably a new favorite of mine.   I love wood grain finishes, but this is a set that can easily be used to create masculine pages like this one,  so sit down and enjoy the next video:

The idea was to create a wood grain background with some hearts cut from the bark of the tree (I used the Halftone Hearts die set for this).

I love the stamp set and it is now on a handy spot where i can reach for it easily as well as the new Dare to Dream stamp set.   A buildable stamp is always handy, but the interchangeable designs in this one make it a must in your stash!

Let me start by saying that unfortunately i mistakenly erased the footage for the process video of this page, so i have to talk through how i created the background.   The square tile design in the Dare to Dream stamp set was the inspiration for this page.  So i matched it to some of the colors of the pictures and created a background on white cardstock ).   I drew a pencil line and then created a small mask that help to keep the lines somewhat straight.

Next, I  pulled some blue cardstock and heat embossed -in white- one of the stamp's images.  I cut each title separately, and used some foam adhesive to attach it above the stamped background.

A few flowers were fussy cut from the Botanical Rhapsody washi tape and added a bit of color using the Altenew Markers.  To finish the page, i used the new Fancy Greetings stamp set.  LOVE how this turned out, and i am so sorry I erased the footage by mistake.  And now to finish ( i know i had a lot of fun with this release!!) let me show you a set of cards created with the Ornate Foliage Stamp and Die Set.

I heat embossed -in gold- the stamped images on white cardstock, and then used my Altenew mini Ink Cubes collection to color the images.  For this one, I used the new Gold String and  Gold Trim to create the background, then added a piece of sand cardstock in the center and glued the image in place.  The sentitment for the card comes from the Ornate Foliage stamps set.

I followed the same idea for the background of this card, however i omitted the washi tape.  I used foam adhesive to add the images and frame the center of  the card.  For the sentiment, i chose the new Fancy Greetings  stamp set

This card once again uses the new Gold String and Gold Trim Washi tapes to create the background .  Then used the stamped imaged and a sentiment from the Ornate Folliage set.  And now onto my last project/card

For this page, i started by stamping the word HELLO! on the card using the Ombre Alpha Stamp set and Altenew inks in purple.    Then glued a piece of vellum to the stamped pannel, and added a sentiment using the Fancy Greetings stamp set as well as the last stamped Ornate Foliage image.

That was  a long and lengthy post, but i did warn you i had a lot of fun with the release. But now it is time for GIVEAWAYS.
