Happy New Year To You.

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd   - HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU.  -

Hello there!

Scrapbooking is a way of safe-keeping moments, feelings, memories, not just a picture.   Sometimes -like in this case- the picture is blurry, but perfect to portrait a moment in our lives.

Every year, I always take a picture of my  kids before and after the New Year;  this year we happened to be visiting my sister on January 1st, so i decided to add the littles to the picture, and it took over 10 pictures to get a decent one;  but upon editing, I discovered this gem, and i decided to document it as it describes the love between my teens, a whiny 8 year old, and a hyper pre-schooler.

It all started with the new Happy 2017 cut file available for free at the Scrapbook Nerd Store, click here to be taken directly to the store, and you can obtain your free copy of this cut file designed by The Cut Shoppe exclusively for Scrapbook Nerd.

Since the title design is large, I decided to create a watercolor background that will encase the title and the picture on this layout.   I used a few of the Prima watercolor palettes and a mix of techniques to create the background, and set it aside to dry.

While that dried, the title was cut using the cut file, and one of the new Simple Stories collections, "WHATEVER".   I made sure to create an offset of the image on the software, and cut it out of whtie card stock.   I attached the image cut out to the white offset, this ensures that the title stands out, and to show the detail on the image.

Since the collection is  colorful, and small, i used some of the journaling cards from the cut-out sheet in the collection as layers behind the picture.  The embelishments come from the collection sticker sheet, and the Life in Color collection.

To balance the page, i used a banner from the sticker sheet, and the star ephemera in the Life in Color kit.  In addition, i cut strips of the same paper as the title, and glued it to the sides of the layout.  A  little bit of hand journaling, and some black ink complete this page.

I love, love this page!  It is the perfect description of love and happiness, two things we all need in the new year.  As always don't forget to visit Scrapbook Nerd to check all the materials used here, and to download a free copy of the cut file.

Let me know if you have any questions on how this came together.

Thanks for visiting!
