Altenew Build-A-Flower: Columbine Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hi there!
Welcome to the Altenew Build-A-Flower: COLUMBINE Release Blog Hop + Giveaway.   You are arriving from Therese's blog - a list of all the participants is available at the bottom of this post for your convenience -

Today, Altenew is celebrating the release of their new Build-a-Flower set: COLUMBINE. I gotta admit that i had seen the flower before, but i had to go to the internet to see if it matched what i remember, and totally felt in love with the wildflower feel of the flower. And as it is with all Altenew products, the BAF set easily can recreate a very realistic match to the original flower.

Every time, i see a new stamp, i think of all the possibilities of the stamp in memory keeping before cardmaking ( it is the journaler in me!). After seeing how they grow in the wild, i decided to stamp my hearts content of them to create a page all about my daughter.

I chose to stay with a single color family for each of the flowers, and wanted very Spring happy colors. For this, i used Spring Bouquet, Shades of Purple, Red Cosmos, Tropical Forest, and Summer Afternoon MIni Ink Cubes to stamp all the flowers and leaves. Having a stamping platform helped to speed up the process, and then just took my time die cutting all the images.

I wanted the flowers to stand out, so i chose a green cardstock for the background, and applied Embossing paste using a stencil brush through the Feeling Dotty stencil.

Once, the paste dried, i started to build the large floral cluster on the right side of the layout. A bit of foam adhesive helps to add movement and dimension to the flowers. I then simply added the picture of my daughter and used the Mega Brush Alpha stamp set to create the title of the page.

I love how the BAF: COLUMBINE flowers frame the picture very softly, and then all the color just makes the images pop from the page. You are going to love this stamp set!

I cannot wait to see what you create with the new BAF release. Remember to take advantage of the Subscription program for this collection...

Family Love

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapboook Nerd  -  FAMILY LOVE -

Hi there!

It is time for some inspiration, and what better way than to use lots of color!!    This week's DT project for Scrapbook Nerd celebrates those small moments in a colorful way.   For this page, i am using Jillibean Soup's Famhouse Stew, and a bit of mixed media.   Here is  video showing you how this page came together:

As you saw in the video, I was drawn to the color contrast between the woodgrain and teal paper, so I combined them and added a bit of mixed media to the background, so that all the detail in the flowers will pop.

Next, it was all about using all the fussy cut floral motifs (it took quite a while to cut all those florals!).   I set them around the picture, so that it looked like the picture was sitting on a patch of flowers.

To pop the title, and to play with the  teal strip of paper, I decided to switch the orientation of  the title, and take advantage of the large alphas.    Then just used a bit of foam adhesive to add dimension, and play to the title.

Can i say I totally love this page,  not just the kids (my little cousins) that are featured in the page.  Here is the entire layout:

I hope this brings a bit of inspiration to your Wednesday!   Remember to stop by Scrapbook Nerd to check all the materials used in this layout.

Take care!
