Hi there!

Hope you all are well!  This week's assignment for Scrapbook Nerd was to create projects based on everyday moments, which is perfect for the way i document our lives.  So i went i pulled a picture of what i see on a normal basis to create this page.

The background was first created using Distress Oxides so that they match papers from various Paige Evans collections. I chose a masculine palette to match the picture i am using.  Once the inks had been applied with a foam applicator so that they look like strips of color, a Kaisercraft stencil and a baby wipe was used to create the starry background.   Some ink was diluted and added to the bottom of each color strip followed by stamped images of stars using the Turn The Page stamp set and the respective inks.

While the inks completely dried, I went ahead and backed the cut out (created with a Just Nick Studio cut file) with papers from a few of Paige Evans collections (in case you don't know,  i have them all, have hoarded most of them, and love them all!!!).  A bit of foam adhesive creates the dimension look of the title.

After setting the title on the background,  the picture was backed and layered with the same papes used on the title.   Now to embellish, i went through all the collection pulling stars embellishments from papers, washi tapes and even fussy cutting some.  Gotta love the little rub ons stars from the latest Pick Me Up collection.

I pulled a few embellishments from the collections so that they will match the colors of the background, and even managed to tie a heart charm (form Oh My Heart ) to one of the paper clips from the Take Me Away collection.  Here is the final layout:

Love how this turned out!  I love documenting everyday moments,  as they are the ones that we take for granted sometimes, in a way that they become stars in my scrapbook journey.

Sweet Girls

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL!!!

 Nathalie with you today, bringing you the first project of 2018  (can you believe it is a New Year already!). 





I have had this picture in my scrapbook file for a while waiting for the right cut file, and when i saw the new Magic Carpet Background, the idea popped into my head.






To create this background, I isolated only the full images of the cut file, and then copy them in a tile formation.   Using the Silhouette software,  the image was moved until it matched the angle of the picture, and then set to cut from white cardstock.



Each image was then backed by a different paper from the Paige Evans' "Turn The Page" collection (one of  my fave collections from 2017!).  Using a bone folder, the centers of the motifs were slightly creased as to create the dimension in the background.



Just a few embellishments were needed to complement and frame the picture.   I wanted the picture to balance the background, so I chose to keep it Black and White so that it stands out from the colorful background.





The title of this page was created using the  "Girl Power"  and  "Lower Case Alpha" cut files from papers from the collection.   Each letter and word was cut twice, and glued together, a bit of foam adhesive adds the dimension to the word "sweet".

Magical Moment

Hello everyone!



It is the first day of  November, which means there is new cut file available at Scrapbook Nerd.  This month's free cut file is called "Stellar Shapes" and it was designed by  the Cut Shoppe.  You can visit the store to get a free copy of the cut file, just click here.

I used one of the images of the cut file to create the background for this page that documents one of my favorite photo of my kids on their first months together.

I have created a small video to show you how easily and rapidly this page came together, so sit down and enjoy:

As you can see, I am using Paige Evans' Turn the Page collection to create all the cut outs in this page.   All the color in the papers needed just a subtle background, so a bit of mixed media goes a long way here.

All the colorful images are then stitched to create a " V" that guides the eye to the picture.

These cut outs were also used as layers behind the picture.   Just a few more embellishments were necessary to frame the image.

I love how this layout came together, the color combination is perfect for the picture.  Remember to check Scrapbook Nerd to pick up your free copy of the cut file.

Life Is Wonderful

Today, I am up on the Citrus Twist Kits blog along with Mary Garcia to bring you a take on this week's sketch. 

Sketches are a great starting point for building layouts rapidly, and that was the case with the one created here.   I simply adapted the 8.5x11 sketch to fit into my 12in preferred size by adding some white cardstock (12 in ) as a base.

Since the sketch had so much negative space, I thought that i could replace that large piece of paper by using an 8.5x11 picture of my kids while in vacation in Ecuador.

Once i made this two adjustments, I pretty much followed the sketch  to construct this page.   For the picture cluster, I used Photoshop to edit the large picture, and to create a second picture of just my teens (i cropped the image and just printed the small section were my babies were standing), then used the  frames from the Turn the Page Ephemera pack to layer the picture in between them, and glued the cluster straight onto the picture (making sure that the smaller picture lined up with its original position on the larger one.

To build the title of the page, I used this month's CTK embellishment kit to add the large strip of Turn the PAge collection washi to a piece of white cardstock and then trimmed  it.  This month's stamp was perfect to add the small sentiment that completes the title.

I kept true to the sketch and used pieces from the kit to add all the small clusters at the corners of the page, as well as all the stars in the page.

 To complete the page, i used the ticket sheet , and branding strip of the papers in the kit to create the layers behind the picture.

My Personal Journal

Traveler's Notebook Spread created for Citrus Twist Kits  - MY PERSONAL JOURNAL -

Hi everyone!

It is finally feeling like Fall here in Toronto, and I am enjoying it all

Today, I am bringing you a new entry to my personal journal created for Citrus Twist Kits that shows my love for Fall, and how excited i was to see the first signs of the season.

It all started when i found the "Abundantly Blessed" paper from Illustrated Faith in the Patterned Paper play kit, and fell instantly in love with the acorn designs, and all the beautiful little sayings on the acorns.    Since I had used a large piece of it for another project, i used the leftover piece to serve as a mat on the TN.

Then used the b side of the paper to mat the picture, and glued it to the page along with some of the embellies from the kit.   To complete the page, the corner opposite the picture was folded in, and a cluster of ephemera and exclusives was added to form the title.

This month's stamp (included in the main kit) worked perfect to complement the page.  I love how this came together...  The paper, and all the ephemera worked seamlessly to bring this page together.

Fall Week Guest Designer Spot for Pink Paislee

Hello there!

I love Fall!!, and i got the chance to show how much i truly love the season in this week's Guest Designer Spot at Pink Paislee Blog for their Fall Week theme.   I know!! I am still pinching myself about being in their blog !!!  I gotta thank Paige Evans for asking to join in this week, and for the gorgeous Turn the Page collection, which I got to work with.   Let me show you a quick review of what i created for the spot:

HERE'S TO NEW ADVENTURES

This  page uses one of my favorite cut files, "Leaf It To Me" from the Cut Shoppe.   A bit of handstitching adds dimension and texture to  the most iconic sign of Autumn,  'Falling Leaves'.

The colors of the papers, combined with all the fun embellishments is perfect to highlight a picture of the first signs of fall showing around my place.

HELLO AUTUMN

All the floral motifs in the Turn the Page collection are just too beautiful to pass up.  So what better way to use all those fussy cut flowers, than by creating a bouquet that frames a large title in the page (the title cut file is a free file from Scrapbook Nerd, the leaves are from the Silhouette store).

A bit of gold acrylic paint is all that was needed to add that fall feeling to the page.  All the detail in the leaves is best shown with a layer of vellum behind it, which in turn brings all the flowers to focus.

CARD:

Fall is a time for change;  this card uses the large chipboard icons, and a modified version of one of Paige Evans' cut files to create the background of the card.   Having the frame/window card allows for the illusion of a cascade of falling leaves on the card.

HARVEST FUN

Once again, the combination of cut files with the colorful papers in the collection complete the feeling in the picture of my kids jumping around the apple orchard after eating too many apples (while harvesting them!).

The "Flock of Feathers" cut file from the Cut Shoppe was modified to create the illusion of feathers floating along the page (just like my  kids are suspended in the air in this picture).   A bit of shimmery watercolor adds the magical feel of Fall.

TRAVELER'S NOTEBOOK

For years now, a Traveler's Notebook has  been my to-go memory keeping choice.   It combines my love of pretty paper and journal at once. So when asked to create a mini book, or altered project,  the choice was to look at the past 3 years of TNs to pick the most documented stories and condensed them into this homemade TN ( the entire notebook from cover to insert was created at home with the Turn the Page colleection!).  Here is walk through the notebook:
