AT THE LAKE - Simple Stories

Hi there!
Nathalie with you today with a new layout all about the glorious outdoors.   There is nothing like fresh air and good company to create great memories, and when the new Happy Trails collection from Simple Stories arrived at my door, i quickly pulled a few of those memories to create this page.

I am a sucker for wood grain paper, so i quickly pulled the Happy Camper paper to cut the title from it using a cut file from the Silhouette store.  At the same time,  the letters and waves were also cut from the Lakeside paper.

The title was backed with the patterned paper and foam adhesive to create a bit of dimension on the layout.   The waves were then hand stitched to the Love You S'more paper, and then the title was glued in place above the waves.

I used the Happy Trails 3x4 and 4x6 element papers to back the pictures, and then attached them to the bottom of the title.   I used elements from the Chipboard and cardstock stickers as well as both Bits and Pieces packs to create the clusters around them.

To break up all the wood grain of the background, i decided to trim the bottom of the page a bit and back it with a piece of the Lakeside paper.   A small fold was created at the bottom of the page,  here i added a few stickers and pieces of ephemera to bring a bit more interest to the page.

To finish the page,  i chose to add clusters at the  corners of the title work, so that they bring the colors of the collection, and celebrate my daughter's fishing adventure.

I hope this has inspired you to document those sweet and glorious outdoor adventures using the new Simple Stories Happy Trails collection.   Remember to check it out, you are going to love it!

This Makes My Heart Happy

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  - THIS MAKES MY HEART HAPPY -

Hi there!
Everywhere i look it is starting to look more and more like Valentine's Day.  All those pinks, reds and cute designs in the paper lines  arriving at Scrapbook Nerd was just an opportunity to document some loving moments between my baby and I.

For this page, i used a cut file from the Silhouette store to cut a series of "XOXO" from white cardstock, and backed them with papers from Crate Paper's LA LA LOVE collection.  I wanted the cut outs to stand out, so i chose to use patterned paper from Heidi Swapp's Emerson collection for the background of this page.

A bit of foam adhesive helps to bring some  dimension to the cut outs.  These were placed so that they create spaces for the pictures to rest upon.  I chose to add embellishments from Pebbles and Crate paper's Valentine's Day collection, and also a few from the Main Squeeze collection in a color blocking manner.

Since the background is colorful and bold, i chose to add just a sticker from the La La Love collection at the bottom of the cut outs as my title.  To ground the page, i added a few strips of black and white paper (Along The Way collection) to the sides of the layout.

I love how this turned out.   The colors and fun background are the perfect canvas for the cute pictures of my baby and I.   Remember to check Scrapbook Nerd for all the materials used in this page, and a lot of new goodies arriving at the store.  IF you have questions on how this came together, please contact me through social media!

JOY

Scrapbook layout created for Simple Stories  - JOY -

Hi there! Nathalie with you today to share with you a layout all about the most joyful time of the year, Christmas.  The new Simple Stories collections are so festive and joyous that it was hard to chose which one to use to document a picture of my littles (niece and nephew).   Well, after much debating, I went for the new MERRY and BRIGHT collection to create this page.

To build this page, I used a Paige Evans cut file to create the wreath base from the 4x6 Horizontal elements paper and vellum, and then handstitched them to the Sn@p Basic  12x12 Elk/Cream ledger paper.

Next the poinsettas were created using a cut file from Just Nick Studio from the It is a Wonderful Life paper and another paper from the 6x8 paper pad.  To break some of the red, i used a paper from the High Style paper pad to cut a few poinsettas, too

The flowers were built and glued onto the page.  Then i used a Silhouette design to cut the ivy and pine leaves that are layered under the flowers from the Joy and Happiness paper.

The picture was then added in the middle of the flower cluster, and then just a few embellishments from the chipboard, puffy and cardstock stickers were added around it.  To finish the page, the title was created using a die cut piece from the Merry and Bright collection along with a few more stickers.   A few gold and white ink splatters complete this page.

Love how this turned out, and i am sure my sister will be framing this page as a Christmas decor piece for her home.  I hope you are all inspired to check the new Merry and Bright collection from Simple Stories,  it is sure to help you record all your upcoming memories.

Hello Fall

Scrapbook Layout created for Simple Stories  - HELLO FALL -

Hi there, Nathalie with you today bringing you a bit of Fall.   I think that i look forward to the Fall season more than anything else; it's the cozy feeling, the colors, the cooler weather, PSL( Pumpkin Spice Latte!) and of course the crunching leaves.  And this year, Simple Stories new collection, "FOREVER FALL", is the perfect one to document all these treasured moments

To construct this page, a cut file from the Silhouette store was used to cut out letters to form the title from various papers from the collection.

While i hand stitched the title, I used a cut file from The Cut Shoppe to a group of leaves from all the papers in the collection. The color palette of the papers and designs in the collection are just perfect for the season, that i just couldn't chose one!

To have all the details of the page pop, i chose to use the Sn@p Basic Walnut/Cream Dot paper as a mat for this page.  Once the title was set in place, I layered some of the leaves at both corners of the title

A few stickers and die cuts were also nestled around the clusters just to  bring more interest to the page.  I added the small, "Hello", circle die cut behind the top corner of the title so that it can read as "HELLO FALL".

Since Fall is my favorite season, there is always so many memories being made outdoors;  the picture was embellished with a few clusters at the top and bottom right corner. Just love all the embellishments included in the FOREVER FALL collection.

I hope this page has inspired you start your Fall documenting.   The FOREVER FALL collection by Simple Stories is sure to bring the season to your page!

Happy Fall you all

XO

Shine

Scrapbook Layout created for Simple Stories  - SHINE -

Hi there!  Nathalie with you today, and I am so excited to share with you a new layout that celebrates all those girly dreams of fairies and rainbows.   The new Dream Big  collection is filled with all rainbows, butterflies, fairies, mermaids, and unicorns just every little girl  and woman's dream.

For this page, I wanted to play with colors in the collection, so i used a Paige Evans cut file to recreate a rainbow for the background.

A paper from the High Style pad was used for the background,  a bit of white acrylic paint was added as to form a cloudy sky

A few layers of papers from the Dream Big collection were used to back the picture.  Just love all the patterns and colors in the collection!!!

To embellish the page, I placed a few of the fairy stickers, from the Dream Big collection, so that they formed a visual triangle on the page.   Stickers, die cuts and the new puffy stickers were added around each of the fairies so that they pop from the page.

Just love all the puffy stickers in the Dream Big collection, all the stars work so nicely around the clouds and rainbow in this page.

This layout was a joy to put together, all the icons and papers in the DREAM BIG collection are sure to bring a smile to your face.   I cannot wait to see what you all create with this new Simple Stories collection.

#Relax

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd   - #RELAX -

Hi There!

It has been a rather quiet week for me... Well it happens to be March Break/Spring Break here in Toronto, so I am enjoying the time with my kids (they are both home), and it happens that my schedule was free at the same time, a win win situation.   But i couldn't go with out sharing a few projects scheduled for this week.

This page was  created for Scrapbook Nerd, and it features Crate Paper's  Good Vibes collection, and a bit of Vicki Boutin magic.   For this page, I started with some Vicki Boutin crayon and a stencil brush to add that golden shadow in the background.

Next, i used a cut file from the Silhouette Store to create the large floral cut outs for this page.    All the colorful papers from the collection were then used to back the cut outs,

A bit of foam adhesive props the cut outs from the page.   The picture was then attached to the page surrounded by the cut outs.  Just a few details were needed to finish this page (all come from  the collection).  I am a stamp fanatic, and the one that comes in this collection is perfect to add some sentiments (with gold ink) around the clusters in this page.   Here is the final layout:

I love how this page turned out.   The soft art crayon background creates that soft glow behind the colorful pictures, which are the perfect complement to a picture of my daughter and niece just chilling on the couch!.

Remember to stop by Scrapbook Nerd to check all the materials used in this page.  There are so many new goodies arriving daily, so check them out.

I am always a comment away if you have questions on how this came together!

Cherish

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  -  CHERISH  -

Hi there!

This week the entire Scrapbook Nerd DT was challenged to create a project about a memory of ourselves from the past.   Well, when we moved to Canada over 25 years ago, we lost most of our pictures that record our childhood, only a few survived.  So i pulled one of my beloved pictures of my mom with my sister and I (circa 1978) to create this project.

For the background, a bit of black acrylic paint was smeared so that it will bring all the details of the title and embellishments.  A few droplets of gold and white ink complete the background, and then set aside to dry.

The title was then built using a cut file from the Silhouette store.  It was enlarged so that it fit across the width of the page (about 9 in).  All the letters of the title were then backed with papers from the Vintage Girl collection from Photoplay paper.

Next, the same paper collection was used to create a few paper flowers that serve as decoration for the page -once again using a Silhouette Store cut file-.    A few vellum petals were added to the flowers to soften the layers, and are held together by a gold brad.   The leaves come from a Just Nick Studio cut file and were also cut from a paper from the collection.

To assemble the page,   the title was propped with some foam adhesive, and then the picture was tucked behind the center letters.   The flowers were then placed in clusters around the title and the picture.  Some stickers from the Vintage Girl collection, and Jen Hadfield's sitcker book were placed within the clusters to bring some more detail to the picture and the clusters.   A few lines of journal completed this page:

Though the page is filled with lots of large details, and a bit off the usual look of my pages, I am totally in love of what the end result of this page is.   The focus is centered on the title and the picture,  with lots of soft details.   Now it is time to frame it, and place it in our home!

Remember to stop by the Scrapbook Nerd Friends and Fans Facebook page this week to check more DT projects on this Blast from the Past assignment.  I am always a comment away if you have questions on how this came together.

Loving You

Scrapbook Layout created for Citrus Twist Kits  -  LOVING YOU -

Hi there!

Today i am on the Citrus Twist Kits  blog with the Sunday Sketch challenge.   This time, I tried my best to stay true to the sketch, but with such lovely Cedar Grove Kits, it was difficult not to add more to the page. Here is the sketch:

I started by creating the background using some Distress oxides and a bit of water, followed by a large cut -out  (to replace the vertical paper layer from the sketch).    A bit of embroidery floss was used to wrap parts of the flower and add texture to the page.

While that completely dried,  I started working with the pictures and the layers behind them.   For this, I chose to use papers from both Main and Pattterned Paper kits, and pieces of ephemera ftom the main kit

There are so many cute little pieces included in the kit, that i had to add them to the layers of the page.   Next i used the stamp to add some sentiments around the page.

To create the title, and because i am madly in love with this alpha set, i used a combination of the large and small alphas to spell my sentiment, followed by a few lines of journal just like in the sketch.

Finally a few drops of rose gold water down glaze, and some pink droplets finish this page:

i love the look of the page, though it was a challenge for me to create, since I cannot truly follow a sketch, and it uses multiple pictures.

Remember to stop by the Citrus Twist Kits blog to check the post, and to join in the challenge.

Let me know if you have questions on how this came together,

take care!
