Dream Big

Scrapbook Layout created for Simple Stories  -  DREAM BIG -

Hello Simple Stories Friends and Fans!
Nathalie with you today with a new project that is all about color and GOOD VIBES.  I love taking pictures of my kids and their little cousins together, especially since they get along very well despite the large age gap between them.   Sometimes it is hard to document these pictures, but  the new Simple Stories' GOOD VIBES collection was perfect to convey the feel of this memory.

I wanted to use as many of the papers and colors of this collection, so my choice was to create a large title using a JustNick Studio cut file, and then used papers from the Good Vibes collection to back the letters.

To have all the details pop on the page, a bit of mixed media -Vicki Boutin's Art Crayon- was added to the b-side of a Sn@p! Birch/white grid paper.

Once the title was added to the page, it was time to start embellishing!  Since there are so many fun and colorful icons, I chose to color block the clusters so that they match the colors in the background.

The picture was then backed with one of the papers from the collection, and placed next to the title.   Once again color block clusters were created around the picture.   Just love all the icons and how perfect they work in these color clusters.

Totally loving the GOOD VIBES on this page.  I hope this serves as inspiration to check this new Simple Stories collection.   You are going to love how fun and versatile the new Simple Stories' GOOD VIBES collection can be!

Til next time!

Oh So Happy

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  -  OH SO HAPPY  -

Hello  friends!   Hope you are ready to start a new month!   It seems like this year is flying by, and now we are ready to put the winter gear away, and start to see how Spring starts to pop around us. Today, i want to bring you a new layout that is fun, and colorful, but also showcases dimension without adding undesired bulk to the page.

The new Crate Paper's Good Vibes collection is filled with vibrancy,  color and texture, so I wanted to take advantage of these to create a page that also creates the illusion of dimension without adding the bulk to the page.   The following video will show you a few tricks when combining chipboard pieces so that they don't add undesired bulk to the page:

As you just saw in the video,   the key to creating this page is to trim the chipboard at so that they create the illusion of an intersection while adding dimension to the page.

Once the chipboard frames were trimmed, the layout came together in a small amount of time.    A bit of mixed media just peeking behind the frames is enough to bring more color and interest to the page.

The beautiful embellishments and fun phrases were the perfect to complete this page!   The intersected frames not only create the background, but also create dimension to the page with just a few tricks.

As always do not hesitate to contact me if you have further questions on the page.  Remember to stop by the Scrapbook Nerd on line store to pick all the materials used in this page, and lots of new collections being added daily!

 Take care!

Loving You

Scrapbook Layout created for Citrus Twist Kits  -  LOVING YOU -

Hi there!

Today i am on the Citrus Twist Kits  blog with the Sunday Sketch challenge.   This time, I tried my best to stay true to the sketch, but with such lovely Cedar Grove Kits, it was difficult not to add more to the page. Here is the sketch:

I started by creating the background using some Distress oxides and a bit of water, followed by a large cut -out  (to replace the vertical paper layer from the sketch).    A bit of embroidery floss was used to wrap parts of the flower and add texture to the page.

While that completely dried,  I started working with the pictures and the layers behind them.   For this, I chose to use papers from both Main and Pattterned Paper kits, and pieces of ephemera ftom the main kit

There are so many cute little pieces included in the kit, that i had to add them to the layers of the page.   Next i used the stamp to add some sentiments around the page.

To create the title, and because i am madly in love with this alpha set, i used a combination of the large and small alphas to spell my sentiment, followed by a few lines of journal just like in the sketch.

Finally a few drops of rose gold water down glaze, and some pink droplets finish this page:

i love the look of the page, though it was a challenge for me to create, since I cannot truly follow a sketch, and it uses multiple pictures.

Remember to stop by the Citrus Twist Kits blog to check the post, and to join in the challenge.

Let me know if you have questions on how this came together,

take care!
