Darling

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  -  DARLING -

Hello!

There are only two more projects to go before the end of my reveal week for Scrapbook Nerd.  This time, i wanted to work with one of my favorite winter collections,  American Crafts's Hazelwood collection by 1Canoe2.

Here is small video on how the page came together:

I hope you enjoyed the video, here is  a quick recap, and close ups of the layout:

The background was created by fussy cutting the large floral paper.  This was attached to a premade circle (out of white card stock) backed with another paper from the collection.

The picture was placed on the opposite side of the floral cuts.  The picture is framed with pieces from the collection add ons.

The title comes from the collection chipboard stickers;  the butterflies in this layout were attached on vellum to add softness to the page.  Here is the final layout:

I love this layout - I am a sucker for large florals-.   You can find all the materials used in this layout in the Scrapbook Nerd Store, plus they are receiving all the new collections, so you want to stop by.

Remember i am a comment away if you have any questions on how this came together.

Thanks for visiting today!

Always Together

Scrapbook Layout created for Clique Kits' Instagram Share   - ALWAYS TOGETHER  -

Hello there!

It's Pep Rally time over at Clique Kits.   It is time to share with you all what we have created with the beautiful, "Hey, Sugar" kit.

Since the kit is full of Valentine's day papers and embelishments, i have worked many layouts showcase all kinds of relationships,  This time I chose a picture of my sister and her husband to document in this layout.

It all started by creating this large ampersand as the focus of the layout.  It was created with the Cut Shoppe's "And Love" cut file, and i chose to cut it in one of the papers from the collection.   I added some extra space to the border of the cut, so I can add some hand stitching.  Once cut, I backed the cut-out with vellum, and hand stitched the border,  I also added some faux-stitching to some of the hearts inside the cut-out.

For the title, i used the puffy words included in the kit.   I attached the picture of my sister and her husband, and used pieces from the kit, and some stickers and ephemera from the  Clique Kits's Love Always kit.    To complete the page, i added some pieces of some of the papers to the corners of the page, just to center the page,  Here  is the completed layout:

Have I mentioned how much i loved this kit?  It is truly filled with beautiful papers, and embelishments.  In case you want to see more details on what is included in the "Hey, Sugar" kit, just click here to be directed to Clique Kits.

Thanks for visiting!

Love Everlasting

Scrapbook Layout created for Clique Kits  - LOVE EVERLASTING  -

Hello there!

It seems i have been so busy with deadlines, that i almost miss posting a few to the respective blogs.

Today I am in the Clique Kits blog with a new layout featuring the beautiful, "Hey, Sugar" kit.  Since the kit is filled with pink and Valentine's Day motives, I knew it will be perfect to document a picture of my sister and nephew.

For this project I am using the February 2016 cut file design by Just Nick for Clique Kits.  I cut the outline, and used a 2h pencil to draw the inside triangles of the cut file.  I used watercolor paper to create the heart, and adding paint splatters, and water obtained the look desired for the heart.

Next I used a paper piercer to make holes in the corners of the triangles drawn, and used string to recreate the triangles of the heart.

Next I fussy cut the flowers from the Adore You paper from Crate Paper's Heart Day to layer behind the picture and the heart.

I used the same flowers at the top corner of the heart, and added the title in this corner of the heart.   The black and white alphas from Crate Paper's Heart Day collection complement the page perfectly, so i just added a small word sticker from the Wonderland kit to complete the title.  A few splatters of black ink, and a lines of journal (my new typewriter is the best!)  complete the page.

I so love this page, and the entire kit.   I wish i could hoard the kit,, but i think it is just perfect to document all those beautiful memories of our loved ones.  Don't forget to visit Clique Kits to obtain a kit, and to see what is being stocked in their shelves!

Take care!

Amazing & Timeless

Scrapbook layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  - Amazing & Timeless  -

Hello there!

This is my last project for my week reveal at Scrapbook Nerd!

I think this month the theme of my reveal is fun with cut files.  I find cut files to be a spark to my imagination.  In fact this project changed as the background took shape.

I was inspired to create the background by the Wreathed in Love cut file from the Cut Shoppe.  Using the Cameo, the background was perforated.  A combination of 2 watercolor palettes gave color to the wreath, which then was stitched to add some texture to the layout.

Once the  wreath was finished, the concept changes completely, and i decided to fussy cut the flowers from Pink Paislee's Take Me Away collection.  I layered the picture with the flowers, ephemera and chipboard stickers from the sane collection, and a few embelishments from the Moonstruck collection,

For the title, i used a combination of ephemera pieces  and chipboard stickers from the 2 collections.   to tie in the design, a few drops of gold color shine, and gold rub-on starburst were placed along the page.  Here is the complete layout:

Even when the colors of the wreath are different form the ones in the leaves, the color scheme beautiful, and complement the black and white picture of my sister perfectly.

I hope this week's projects inspire you to take a second look at cut files and what you create with them.   Don't forget to check Scrapbook Nerd for all the materials used, and the Cut Shoppe for all the lovely cut files.

Lovely Smile

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  -  LOVELY SMILE -

Hello friends!

As my reveal week continues at Scrapbook Nerd. Today, I am showing you a new layout that i worked out with the negative parts (left-over pieces) from a cut-out.  I am a sucker for paper scraps, so I couldn't let this pieces go without reworking them into a layout.

These flowers were leftover from a cut file used for another project.  So using the cut-out, and some removable tape, I glued the pieces to a scrap piece of paper.   I pulled some of my  Prima watercolors, and used them to add color to the flowers trying to match the ones in the Pink Paislee's Take Me Away collection.

Once the flowers dried, I stitched them onto white card stock.  I think at this point, I changed my design a few times, but the more i saw the stitched design, it reminded me of the edges of pillowcase dresses, so I decided to trim the card stock to match this design.  I simply followed the edge of the flowers.   Since this layout is all about one of my sisters (we are 20 years apart), I decided to put small quotes as the centers of the flowers.

I had been meaning to scrap this picture of my sister, but hadn't created the right background.  It was a happy coincidence, she is wearing that flower headband.  Since the background is detailed, I chose to add just a few details to the picture, and frame it within the stitched background, and papers from the collection.

I went with a non-white background for the page.  I found paper #1 from the Take Me Away collection as the perfect background (my sister is wearing a head band with purple flowers).   For the title, I pulled the foam words from the collection, and combined them with pieces from the chipboard and mirror stickes to create the title of this page.   To finish the page, I added a few splatters of black ink, and some journal lines,  Here is the final layout:

Though we are at the beginning of winter, I love the spring, happy and airy feel of this page, and it  is just like my sister.    It is funny that i had the perfect picture for a background that was created from the left over pieces of another project!.

As always don't forget to check the Scrapbook Nerd store to find all the materials used in this layout!  Remember I am a comment away, if you want to reach me with a question or concern.

Take care!

Sweet Forever

Scrapbook Layout  for Scrapbook Nerd  - Sweet Forever -

A view of the many layers in this layout.

Hello everyone,

This week is all about reveal projects for Scrapbook Nerd.  For my May kit, i have chosen to work mostly with Pink Fresh Studio's Felicity collection,  and Simple Stories' Life in Color and Heart collection.

For this month, our inspiration is a gorgeous mood board (you can find it in ScrapbookNerd 's facebook page) and the word "Blossom".   With that in mind, I picked this picture of my sister and niece showing their affection for each other, and knew the name for my title right away "Sweet Forever".

I started by cutting one of the papers along their diagonal lines until I got 4 equal pieces.  I flipped two of the pieces, and attached them all to another piece of paper.  Once the mat was completed, I used the Spring Fling cut file from the Cut Shoppe to create a perforated template of a heart sequence in the middle of the page.

I stitched the hearts with embroidery floss of the same colors as the ones
in the paper.

I used hand stitching to trace the cutfile, using white on the pink triangles, and multicolor on the white pieces.  Also, using the same cutfile -same dimensions-, I cut a piece of vellum to use as a layer that will fit exactly on top of the stitched hearts.

The vellum was attached using small glue dots;
this gave a subtle dimension to the layout.

I matted and layered the picture with papers from the same collection;  following the lines of the layout,  i placed the picture in the center of the page.  Some fussy cut  words were used to create the  tag and tab on the picture.  The rest of the decorations come from the word sticker sheet, wood veneer package from the same collection, and Mambi's Favorite friends chipboard sticker collection.

I created the title using the glittered foam word stickers from the collection.

I am all about balance, so a small cluster of fussy cut pieces was attached to the top left corner of  the page.

I fussy cut the pocket cards into this little pieces for my cluster

A few lines of journal on the opposite side of the  cluster, as well as a few pieces of puffy sequin (from Pink Fresh Studio) were enough to complete the page.

The complete layout

I  love the contrast of the patterned papers, the cut file and hand stitching in this piece.  I hope you also like it.

See you soon!

Unique Spirit

Scrapbook Layout - Unique Spirit -

Hello Everyone!,

April is  Autism Awareness month, this is a cause very close to our hearts as my youngest sister was diagnosed with autism at age 2.  After many years of therapy, patience and much love she is able to communicate with us and live a "normal life".  I have to say that my dad and his wife have done a tremendous job trying to make sure she enjoys life to the fullest; she is now turning 19 in a couple weeks, and is ready to go on her high school graduation trip to New York for  her b-day.

To us, Michelle radiates innocence, sincerity and much, much love.    So how do you capture that in a layout?  My answer color... Since the sign for autism is a puzzle piece, i opted for using a puzzle background  cut-file from the Silhouette Store, and backing every puzzle piece in a different colorful paper from the Jubilee collection from My MInd's Eye.

The details of the top right corner of the layout...

I printed the picture in black and white to make sure it was highlighted in this sea of color...  I used some of the same papers to mat and layer the picture.  A few pieces of ephemera and stickers were all that was needed to bring some attention to the piece

I introduced wood details to add more texture to the layout.

I added my journal lines inside one of the puzzle pieces, and added a few details along the layout in order to balance the layout.  I love the results, but most of all I enjoyed seeing the piece come together.  I am sure she will love it, as she loves color...

The finished layout...

Before I leave, I would like to invite you all to read about autism, and how these children interact with the world.  Autism can present differently in each child it affects, as it has a very wide behavioral spectrum.  Once you inform yourself about autism, you will understand that these souls are just like you and me, the only difference is how they process information and relate it back to you.  In our case, Michelle is a blessing in disguise that teaches us all about unconditional love, patience and the power of GOD's love.

See you soon...
