Simply - CK Pep Rally

Scrapbook Layout created for Clique Kit (Pep Rally)  -  SIMPLY  -

Hello there,

I hope you all are doing well, and enjoying the beautiful season!

Today is Pep Rally day for Clique Kits,  it is our chance for the DT and subscribers to show you all what we have been creating with this month's SORBET kit.   I have pretty much killed the kit,  there is only one full page left from the kit, and a few embellishments.  But let me show you what i did on this project.

For this page, i started by drawing circles from 1" to 2" along the center of the page.  Using a paper piercing tool, a stitching guide was created along the circles, and then I used embroidery floss ( to match the colors of the papers) completed the background.

Next I cut circles of different sizes from the colorful dot paper of the kit,  I made sure that there were 4 circles of each color, and they all were different sizes, too.

Using different thickness of foam adhesive, the circles were glued to the page along the center of the page.   I made sure that the circles were glued next to the stitched one, and turn some of the circles to take advantage of the b side of the page.

The picture of my sisters with my kids in a flower patch was the focal point of this page. I used the ephemera, puffy stickers, and exclusives to frame the picture.   To create the title, I pulled a wood veneer from my stash, and added a few stickers from the alpha set.   The journal lines were added inside one of the stitched circles in the page,  Here is the final layout:

I hope you come and join us on Instagram to check what the DT and the Clique Kits subscribers have created.  You can always check what it is included in the kit, and the many exclusives at the Clique Kits store.

See you all around!!

My Personal Journal

Traveler's Notebook Spread created for Clique Kits  - MY PERSONAL JOURNAL -

Hello once again!!

Happy NSD to you all!    It is time to issue my second challenge over at Clique Kits's Facebook page "The Clique".      I have two passions when it comes to memory keeping: my 12x12 scrapbook pages, and my traveler's notebook daily spreads.   Since I have already tackled the scrapbook part of my heart, now it is time for my memory keeping part of my brain,  my personal journal.

So today's second challenge for CK's on-line crop is to create a Traveler's Notebook spread all about you!.  It is up to you whether you want to make it into a bullet journal, fact sheet, currently sheet, or what i chose this time, a Bible journal , as long as it reflect you at this moment.  If you add a picture of you, it is even better (#existinphotos)

For this spread, I am using the  beautiful Sorbet kit, and the exclusive printables from the TN kit
along with a few pieces from my stash.  But before, let me tell you why I chose to do a bible devotional today.  A few days ago, my dearest "cousin" ( he is part of the family that adopted us when we moved to Canada, since then we have called each other cousins) passed away after a very short, but bravely fought battle against Stage 4 Lymphoma. Through it all his love for life, and his family was what kept us hoping for a miracle.  Unfortunately God wanted him home, and he had to leave us. His wife and two young kids (my god children) are devastated, and we are trying our very best to help in what we can.

This page was created a few days after his passing, after a good hair cut, and a long conversation with God through my Bible study.    First of all, I chose two of the selfies, i took while walking the dog after getting a fresh haircut.   I kept them rather large, since I wanted them to be the focal point on the pages.

Next I cut a page of high quality copy paper to fit  an entire two page spread of my TN. I folded it in half, and decided to create a folded page where i could hide my journal.   Before gluing the page down to the notebook, I cut two pieces of the same dimension out of one of the papers from the kit  (these are smaller than the tn's page),and glued them to the folded page, one on the front of the fold -remember that the folding edge is glued to the outer edge of the TN page -, and the other to the inside of the folded page (as in the picture).

I used the exclusive printables of the Sorbet TN kit to add tabs, to the folded page, and to the top of this Bible devotional ( I love this card!).  Using my type writer, I wrote my devotional answer to 1Thessalonians 5:16-18, and glued it to the  patterned paper.

I glued a picture to the inside of  fold, and used the exclusive printables, and some of the Simple Stories Faith stickers to frame the page.  The exclusive printables on both the main and TN kit coordinate well, so it was easy to use them in this spread.  Here is a look at the inside of the fold:

I  really hope you can join us at the Clique so you can enjoy some inspiration, and use it to create your own memory keeping.  You can always find most of the materials used in the Clique Kits store, remember to use one of the DT's code to receive a discount at checkout.

Thanks for stopping by!

Favorite Pair

Scrapbook Layout created for Clique Kits  -  Favorite Pair  -

Hello everyone!!

Happy NSD!!

Today is a day to celebrate all things paper and memory keeping;  at the same time Clique Kits is posting their monthly challenge to all followers,  this month's challenge is GOLD.   I couldn't be happier about it, as i love gold, and this month's kit -Sorbet-  features Pinkfresh Studio's Dream On collection which combines perfect with gold

This project started with a cut file from Handipaper (Inna Moreva's Etsy store).  I cut the wreath out from the Marvel paper, backed the leaves with vellum, and added some distress ink in Cracked pistachio to the vellum to bring out the mint color of the leaves.

I played around with the wreath, and ended up cutting it in half, and  gluing it to the paper leaving an empty space in between the two ends.  Here i positioned my title which was creating by using the alphas in the kit, and the beautiful die cut word "Favorite".  Since the die cut is rich in toner, i decided to foil it using my MInc and some champagne  foil.

To create the clusters of flowers around the wreath, i simply used a couple cut files from the Silhouette store, and the Delight paper from the kit.  To add some background to the flowers, I cut the outlines of the the flowers using cardstock to match the peach tone of the flowers.

The picture of my sister and mom is tucked  under one of the flower clusters.  To complete framing the picture, I simply added a few of the ephemera pieces, and some of this month's exclusives. In addition, I used quite a bit of gold color shine to add some splatters around the wreath.   Here is final layout:

I love this month's challenge, and as you can see I love this month' SORBET kit.   The papers are just so beautiful, and the exclusives are perfect for many  paper craft projects!!  Remember to visit Clique Kits to check all the details in the kit, and to see what their stocking in their store.

Take care!

Dreaming with Eyes Wide Open

Scrapbook Layout created for Clique Kits  -   DREAMING WITH EYES WIDE OPEN  -

Hello there!

Happy National Scrapbooking Day to you all!!  I am sure you are all hopping around, absorbing as much inspiration as possible from all the great scrappy feeds.

Clique Kits is also holding an on-line live crop on their Facebook page, The Clique, so come join us.
Today, the DT has created challenges for you all to complete.  This is my first challenge, and it is something dear to my heart,  CUT FILES.  So the challenge is to use a cut file to create a layout.

Today, I am using the beautiful Clique Kits Sorbet kit to create a page about my son.  My scrappy young friend (who happens to be an amazing designer, too), Maryam  Perez, recently released a free cut file on her blog - just click here to be taken to her blog- , and it was perfect for what i had in mind.  So i played with the cut file  (copy, flip and welded the image) until i was happy with it.   Then i used the papers in the kit to back the cuts.

This month's kit -Sorbet- is filled with beautiful pieces of ephemera, so after gluing the picture in the center of the layout, I used the large piece of ephemera to create the title of the page, and frame the picture of my teenage son.

How can you not add so much detail to a page, when there is to much to chose from.  Since the page is mostly black and white, the small pops of color in the ephemera work to bring life and attention around the page, and to the picture.  Here is the final layout:

I love, love  this page.  It is so my style!, and defines my son to a tee!  I really hope you take so time, and visit the Clique to take on some of the challenges.    Remember there is prizes to be won!!
If you would like more information on the materials used in this layout, visit Clique Kits, there are so many beautiful things to chose from in their store.

See you all very soon!!!

Smile -Life is Beautiful- Remember -Who Loves You-

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  - SMILE Life is Beautiful.  REMEMBER Who Loves You -

   Hello Crafty friends!

I hope you all are doing great, now that the weather is starting to change!

Today, I am popping here with a new tutorial (my Cameo is taking a rest this time!) that showcases the patterns in the new Pinkfresh Studio collection "DREAM ON".      In case you haven't seen the collection, just click here to be directed to the store (I hope there is still some of the collection left, as it is beautiful!).  The patterns on the papers are just very modern, and unique, plus the colors are just Spring"y".

This layout took exactly 30 minutes to come together.  The inspiration for this page was the patterns on the paper, especially the large phrase paper ( Aspire ).  So i set to cut out the last sentence group on the page,  "SMILE Life is Beautiful.  REMEMBER Who Loves You".  I used my detailing scissors, and exacto knife to fussy cut the letters.

This picture of my mom and nephew is a favorite of ours, and the perfect image to accompany the title.   Using the "Day" paper as a base (the paper has a lovely subtle grid design), I attached the picture and  laid the title (using foam tape) around the picture.  Since the title is so large, a few small pieces from the collection embellishments was all it was needed to frame the picture.

Since the picture and title are anchoring the page in the center.  I fussy cut four rows of circles from the "WISH" paper, and machine stitched them on the page along the horizontal edges of the  page.

This collection is filled with interesting patterns that repeat through the collection, so I picked a mixture of pieces that from the embellishments that resemble the triangles, and circles  in the papers's patterns.  These were clustered at opposite corners (diagonally) on the page.

A few lines of journal complete the page.   Here is a quick video on how this page came together (please forgive the light in the video... we are working on setting a new light system that works for me!)...

Did you see the lighting issues?  My tech savvy son and hubby are working on fixing it.    Back to the layout, now!... The  patterns in the papers in this collection is what inspire this layout, as I always  build backgrounds before adding a picture to it.  Like I mentioned, the  large sentence paper is what brought this page together.  So next time, take a closer look at the patterns in your papers, you will be amazed at what they can inspire!

As always let me know if you have any questions on how any of this came together.

 See you all soon!

Live for the moment

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  -  LIVING FOR THE MOMENT  -

Hello there!

It is the end of my reveal week for Scrapbook Nerd.  This month's winter blahs brought a new source of inspiration to my work, color.

A few days ago, the beautiful Pinkfresh Studio collection "DREAM ON" arrived at the Scrapbook Nerd store (it has been on my pre-order list for a while), so as soon as  it hit my doorway, i had to create with it.

Using the Counting Stars cut file from the Cut Shoppe, the cut out for the back ground was created.   I used papers from the collection to back the stars, but i used a lot of this celestial blue paper in most of the stars.

I played with the position of the cut file for a bit, until i was satisfied with the look in the page.  Then I used foam adhesive to attached the cut out to the page, and create the beautiful shade on the mat.

I used a picture of my son on one of the many snow walks we have taken around the snow covered paths behind our home.  Since the colors match, I simply layered pieces from the collection to form the title, and clusters around it.

I went a little crazy with the ink splatters, but to my defense it was late at night.   A large amount of journal was added, on how much i adore this kid, and his awesomeness. Here is the final layout:

I love,  love this layout, and the colors in the collection are just supreme.  You can check all the materials used at the Scrapbook Nerd Store.

As always let me know if you have any questions on any of this week's projects,  I am just a comment away.

Take care!
