Dream Girl

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  - DREAM GIRL -

Hello there!

Happy New Year to you all!

It is my reveal week over at Scrapbook Nerd, and to start, I am bringing you a project about my sweet niece back when she was just a toddler.   I am using the beautiful Cute Girl collection from Crate Paper and a bit of mixed media to highlight this moment.  Here is a small video that shows you how this page came together, enjoy!

Here are just a few highlights on how the page came together.  First the background was created using watercolors on heavy card stock;  once the paint dried, a few stars were added using some modelling paste.

The cloud cut outs were created using the Happy Clouds cut file from The Cut Shoppe, vellum, and papers from the Cute Girl collection.

All decorations and title come from the different add ons of this collection:

To end the project, a few extra star stickers were added to the page, as well as the date when the picture was taken, and a few lines of journal highlighting the sweet moment between  these littles.  Here is the final layout:

I love the final look of this layout, and how the colors of the collection are vibrant and soft perfect to highlight  the sweet picture of my niece.
Don't forget to check Scrapbook Nerd to pick all the materials used in this layout.

Cute

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  - CUTE -

Hello,

today's project for Scrapbook Nerd is all about being "cute".   Like i said in previous posts, I am in love with Crate Paper's Cute Girl collection, and all its add ons, so much that i have reordered half of it already.    I picked this collection with my niece in mind, as she is only 8 years old, and I curate most of her pictures.

With my niece in mind, I created this background with some acrylic paint,   then added a few hearts using a stencil and some whipped speckle.  Once dried, i trimmed the mat, and stitched a flower cut-out (Jen Schow design) to the one side of the page, and matted the entire page onto one of the papers from the collection.

I wanted the picture to stand out, so I converted it to black and white, and simply matted it with some tissue paper.  The title comes from the puffy sticker set of the collection, along with all the ephemera on the side of the picture.  Here is the final layout:

Here is a small video that shows the creative process behind this layout, enjoy:

a close up of the layout.

Hello everyone!,

First of all Happy Thanksgivings to you all!!  It is Thanksgivings here in Canada, which means we have a long weekend, and I have eaten too much this weekend.
I have been asked to continue designing for Scrapbook Nerd for another term, so I will continue working hand in hand with them until March (maybe longer than that, only God knows;  but i love Barb and Joy the owners of the store).

For this month's reveal, I was inspired with all things girly (though I have made quite a few boy layouts, they are coming soon to the blog!), i was drawn to pink, hearts, and the beautiful girls in my world.

I had picked Crate Paper's Cute Girl collection from the Scrapbook Nerd store to work on documenting my niece's younger years, but i have used it in other projects, too.  For today's project I used the  Cut Shoppe's Open Your heart cut file to create my background.  I used one of the papers from the collection, backed the empty spaces using the 6x6 paper pad, and vellum.  I stitched a bit along the center line of the hearts.

Since the cut-out was attached on a slant, small strips of papers from the collection were also attached to the bottom of the page.

The beautiful cardstock stickers were so beautiful, and i used them as a way to repeat the theme of the page.  I placed them at the bottom left corner of the layout, were all the ink splatters start from.

For the title, i used some of the puffy stickers from the collection,  I accented the word, by adding a small tag, and one of the tassels from the collection.

This is one of the few pictures that survived from my childhood.  I edited the picture to take away all the noise and distress, and converted it to black and white.    All the clusters around the page come from the Cute Girl collection.    Here is the final layout:

This layout was inspired by the beautiful papers in the collection.   Though i purchased it to document my niece, I had to use it for this picture of my childhood.  Here is a small video on how the project came together:

My Girl

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  - My Girl -

Hello there,

This is my reveal week at Scrapbook Nerd.  This month, i was inspired by simplicity, white space, and black and white pictures, in no particular order.
For my first project, I am using the Crate Paper's Cute Girl collection (which i purchased to document my young niece, but am using in other projects, too).

The background of the layout.

The cut-out was created with a Paige Evans design for Studio Calico.   I chose to back each square with papers from the collection (using the 6x6 paper pad), and different color vellum.

My daughter.

I chose to anchor the layout with this picture of my daughter.  I created a small cluster around the picture with pieces from the collection.

To balance the piece, I added a small cluster on the opposite side (diagonally) of the picture.  I pulled some pieces from the collection, and a few from Crate Paper's Hello Love collection.

Finally, I matted the cut-out on a paper from the collection, and added my journal lines  at the bottom of the page.

I really love the color contrast on this page, and how the picture is highlighted without much decor.   IF you wish to order all the materials used on this layout, please visit Scrapbook Nerd.  Joy and Barb will help you with any order.

Thanks for visiting my blog today.

See you all tomorrow!
