Spooky Cute Little Monsters

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  - SPOOKY CUTE LITTLE MONSTERS -

Hi there!

It is Halloween!  So, today's project for Scrapbook Nerd is all about those cute little costumes my niece and baby are wearing on Halloween a few years ago, however i chose to work with a non-traditional Halloween collection for this page.

To create this page, I chose to work with Pinkfresh Studio's Indigo Hills 2 collection due to its color palette.   To start,  i pulled a new cut file from Handipaper and cut a few of the ghosts out of the collection papers, and then used some handstitching to add texture and definition to all the details of the cut out.

Next, a piece of the "Valley" paper was cut and glued to white cardstock.  A thin coat of white paint was then added to the center of the page.  Once it dried, I used some Jane Davenport mermaid markers and Kuretake metallic watercolors to create a colorful background (using mostly orange and purple tones)

Once it all dried, the page took no time to put together.   First I backed the picture with one of the collection papers, and then mounted it on the center of the background, then the ghosts were added as if flying around the picture.  A few embellishments from Pink Paislee's Spellcast collection, Simple Stories' Simple Vintage Halloween collection were added around the ghosts.

Finally, the title was added using a combination of the Indigo Hills 2 gold alphas and the Pink Paislee Spellcast stickers.  A few lines of journal and some small enamel dots complete the page.   Just love how this turned out!  Those two little ones looked spooktacular surrounded by the cute ghosts.

Remember to stop by Scrapbook Nerd to check for all the materials used in this page, and if you have any questions on how this all came together, do not hesitate to contact me!

Happy Halloween everyone!

Spooktacular Selfie

Hi there!

Happy Halloween everyone!   Oh, how i miss the day my kids would dress up for the day, all the preparations, the make up and all the candy afterwards (well, there is still candy!!);  now that they are teenagers all I am left with are sweet memories of Halloween's past.  So, i pulled a few pictures from a couple years ago to create this page using some of the new JustNick Studio cut files.

JustNick Studio_SPOOKTACULAR SELFIE_Nathalie DeSousa

There are so many cut files to chose from, and it was so hard to pick one, that i decided to mix four cut files in one page.

I combined one of the Basic Heart cut file  images with the Spiderweb 2 background and Web cut files to create the cut out for this page.  I chose to cut it from black cardstock, so that it would stand out from the mixed media background (created with Jane Davenports Mermaid Markers).

Before setting the cut out on the page, a bit of white acrylic paint was rubbed on the cardstock, this gives the cut out that worn/antique look you see in the layout.

The pictures were sized so that they fit in between the two spiderwebs inside the heart, and then i used stickers and embellishments from a few Halloween collections (Simple Vintage Halloween from Simple Stories,  Pink Paislee's Spellcast and Pebbles' Midnight Haunting) to add some small details around the page.

For the title of this page, I chose the new Happy Halloween cut file to create the "SPOOKTACULAR" part of the title.  It was cut from black cardstock and then treated to a white acrylic paint wash.

Now it is time to go and set all the candy in bowls for us to share (well a bit of it, at least!).  Remember to stop by the JustNick Studio store to check all the cut files used here and all other beautiful designs.  You can always contact me if you have questions on how this all came together!
Have a safe and  Happy Halloween!!

Citrus Twist Kits - Sunday Sketch with Nathalie

Projects created for Citrus Twist Kits  for the Sunday Sketch Challenge

Hi there!
Nathalie with you today with this week's Sunday Sketch.  I love working with sketches as they provide inspiration, sort of the starting point for a project, and this week's sketch is  a super fun one.  So, let me show you:

I love this sketch so much that i used it to create two different projects using the "Little Things" Scrapbook kit and embellishment kit.  First let me show you how i used the sketch to create a 12x12 scrapbook page:

Those ticket cut outs (created with one of this month's cut files) were a large part the inspiration for this page.  Since the  sketch was designed for a 8.5x11 format, i chose to extend it fit a 12x12  but chose to stay very true to the sketch through the transformation.

I wanted to play with the patterns and colors of the Little Things kit so i used some of the papers in the Scrapbook Kit and patterned paper play kit to create the tickets and layers behind the picture.

Since there is a lot of color and patterns being used in the page, a bit of  black Distress Ink was used to create a neutral background for the page. Once all the layers were added to the page (as per the sketch), i decided to embellish the page using the numbers from the tickets cut outs, stickers from the Embellishment kits and lots of elements from this month's cut apart card.

To accomodate extend the design to fit a  12x12 layout, i chose to add the small fold at the top left corner of the page so that it brings interest to the page.     The next video will show you how this was created using the Little Things kits:

It is amazing how a sketch can inspire to create a project, but this sketch is so versatile that i also used it to create a TN entry in my daily Journal:

Once again, i used the Little Things scrapbook, Embellishment and Patterned Paper PLay kits to create this page.

To create this entry, i chose to use the number tickets as the highlight of the page, and used them to create the background for the picture placement.   To reduce the bulk , i chose to just use a reduced number of layers, and then embellished with stickers from the embellishment kit and stamp images from the Little Things TN stamp.

My title was placed using the stickers and cut apart element sheet from the Little Things kit;  I chose to keep it as shown in the sketch so that it brings texture and interest to the other side of the TN entry.   I typed my journaling at the bottom of this page, and added some more stamped images to complete the look  of the page.

Now it is your turn to use the sketch as inspiration to create a project of your own.  Remember to share with us on the Citrus Twist Kits Fan Page on Facebook what you create with this sketch, or on social media by tagging Citrus Twist Kits .  We would love to see what you create.

PSL

Scrapbook Layout created for Citrus Twist Kits  - PSL -

Hi there!
Everything around me is FALL and i love it!!  I love the season for so many reasons, but i think PSL has to be up there in the list of my faves!  So, I  took advantage of the Sweater Weather add on kit from Citrus Twist Kits to create a layout about our love for Pumpkin Spice Latte, and Cinnamon tea for my daughter!.

It all started with the Cup of Joy Cut file -available for free at the CTK shop -, and all the beautiful papers from the Simple Stories Forever Fall collection that are included in the kit.  I used my Silhouette to create the cut out and used them to paper piece the cup.

Before starting the paper piecing, i embossed a few leaves on white heavy cardstock, and then used Distress Oxides to bring the Fall tones to the background.

Once it was all ready, I backed the picture of our cups  -which happen to match the colors of the cup-  with some of the papers i used, and attached it to the background.   Then i glued the paper cup on top of the picture, so that it looks like it is tucked into the cup.

To embellish the page, i pulled the chipboard and die cuts from the Sweater Weather kit  -they are from the Forever Fall collection from Simple Stories- and added a few clusters around the picture and the cup.   This month's Little Things Stamp set from CTK had all the stamped sentiments, which complete the clusters.

For the title, i pulled a few more embellishments and the Amy Tangerine alphas included in the kit to create a small title in a cluster at the bottom of the page.  A few lines of journal and some gold ink complete this page:

Love how this turned out, unfortunately the Sweater Weather kit has sold out at the CTK store, but all the rest of the stamps, embellishments, cut files, and stamps can still be found in the store, so stop by to check them all out.

As always let me know if you have questions on how this all was put together.

Holiday Cards

Hi there!
It is starting to look a lot like Christmas!  Well, not just yet.  This week we were asked to create cards with focus on stamping for Scrapbook Nerd.   I love making cards especially when i can mix some of my scrapbook supplies in them.  So, when the new Concord and 9th stamps and dies arrived at Scrapbook Nerd,  I quickly picked a few of them for the upcoming holidays.  You might say that these are not a set, and you are right, I see them more as a sampler of the new stamps.  Let me show you...

For this card, I used Distress oxides in Broken China, Peacock Feather, Fossilized Amber and Worn Lipstick to create the colorful background.   The new Concord and 9th's Deck the Halls Turnabout stamp had a great collection of Christmas illustrations so,  I chose a not so traditional color palette for the card.  The sentiment, from Crate Paper's FALALA collection, is propped with some foam adhesive, some simple pearls and sequins complete the card.

This next card was created using Concord and 9th's Merry and Bright Stamp set and Distress Oxides in Crushed Olived, Pine Bough and Barn Door.   The sentiment for this card comes from the new Pebbles'  Bright and Cozy collection.   A little bit of foam adhesive as some gold floss bring the sentiment forward, and the small fussy cut images complete this card.

For the last card,  I used the Happy Plaids stamp, from Concord and 9th, and Distress Oxide in Hickory Smoke and Black Sooth to create the background of the card.  Then added the snowflake die cuts from Crate Paper's FALALA collection, and a wooden sticker from Pinkfresh Studio's December Days collection.

I love how easy all of these were to put together with lovely results.   Remember to stop by Scrapbook Nerd store to check these and lots more materials for all your cardmaking and paper crafting needs.  AS always please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions on how this came together.
