Scrapbook Layout created for Vicki Boutin DT - SWEET MOMENTS -
Hello lovelies! How was your weekend?!
Nathalie with you today ( I
am taking Jana’s schedule for this week!) to bring you a bit of inspiration using Vicki’s All The Good
Things collection and some of her new releases in one very Spring inspired
page. For this entire month, we are partnering with JustNick Studio, so most of
our projects will be featuring some of their awesome cut files.
This page started planned
with a totally different idea on mind, but changed a bit along the way. Based on my first set up, I started adding
some of the starburst circle images –from Vicki’s latest stamp release –to a
gessoed foundation paper.
I wanted to create
“dandelions” on the background, so my choice was to use embossing ink, and
frost white embossing powder to create these images.
Actually using embossing on
top of the gessoed surface does not affect the background, and if you are going
to add mixed media after embossing, then remember to gesso your page first.
To add color to the
background, I pulled Vicki’s watercolor set and watercolor brushes. If you have swatched your paints following
the order of the box, then #8, #12, #13 were the colors combined to create the
background on this page.
I started by adding a light
color wash with lots of water, and raising the paper, so that the watercolor
will flow around the stamp images. Then
using the finest brush, added splatter and some details at the edge of the
background
The watercolor brings the
detail of the embossed circles in the background nicely, so that they look like
“dandelions”.
Here is where the layout
took a change, as I decided to add the Floral Background 2 as part of the
background. This time, I welded the
background so that it created this floral wave on the background. The flowers were backed using the pink tone
papers from Vicki’s All the Good Things collection, and some white vellum.
The flowers were attached to
the background with some foam adhesive, and then a few of the watercolor
sticker leaves were scattered around some of them, so that they add to the
flowers definition.
The picture of my mom and
nice were tucked under the cut file, and a few details were used to the
picture. The cardstock stickers, along
with some of the watercolor stickers are plenty to decorate this picture.
To add a bit more of a break
in between the flowers, a bit of watercolor was added to all the leaf stickers,
and the large watercolor sticker butterfly.
The cool palette on these contrasts and complements the rich warm tones
in the flowers.
To finish the page, I
trimmed the top edge of the page a bit, and added a large strip of “The Little
Things” paper to the bottom edge. Here I
created a smaller cluster with some cardstock stickers and enamel dots –all
from the collection-. The title was
created with a combination of the collection’s thickers.
A few splatters of
water-down rose gold just complete the page.
I am very happy with what the page, even when it took a major change as
it was being created. The following
video will show you a more in depth look on how the page came together.
Remember to check Vicki’s
All The Good Things collection and all her mixed Media goodies, they are all
awesome. Also if you are not part of the
Vicki Boutin’s Mixed Media community on Facebook, come join us. There is so much inspiration and fun
happening there, plus there is a color challenge for the month (and this layout
was inspired in those colors!)
That is all for me!
XOXO
