Scrapbook Layout created for Vicki Boutin DT - SILLY SELFIES -
Hi there! Nathalie with you
today bringing you a project that is a bit of a challenge for me! If you have seen my work before then you
will know that I am a single picture scrapbooker. So using multiple pictures in one page (that
are not in a collage or a photo strip ) is
a win in my list.
This page was built on layers, starting with the background. It all started with a gessoed foundation
paper. The first layer of color/mixed
media was created using a combination of markers and art crayons. I chose to use the markers as to build color
to the page. Since the page was gessoed,
the marker’s ink stays on top of the page, so that it can be diluted and
smooshed around on the page. To add more color, a bit of art color was
then added using the kissing technique, and then set aside to dry completely.
Once the background was dried, it was machine stitched to the side B on
the Soul Food paper so that it sits on an angle. Once in place, the next layer of mixed media
was added using the stencil brush and the flower stencil from Vicki’s latest
release. This time, I chose to add the art crayons in warm tones,
so that it will show on the background, and to add more color to the page.
To bring some shine on the page, the next layer of mixed media was added
using the mandala stencil from the first set and the new rose gold glaze. The flowers were placed on the page so that
it looks like a light cascade of flowers on the page. Here is what the finished background looks
like after all those fun layers.
Now to start embellishing this page,
the pictures of my cousin (she is like my little sister) and my
goddaughter (isn’t she the cutest!!!) were matted and layered with papers from
the 12x12 and 7x10 paper pads. They
were both glued to the page using some foam adhesive so that they pop off the
page.
Gotta love the watercolor stickers!
They can easily be customized using some art crayon and a baby
wipe. Some of these stickers were added
at the corners of the pictures along with some ephemera pieces to create
clusters in a visual triangle shape. All
those phrases included in the ALL THE GOOD THINGS collection worked perfect inside
the clusters around the pictures.
To bring more color to the page, and to bring more of the Soul Food
paper color to the page, the phrase “Silly Selfies” was cut using the Sihouette
Cameo, and then glued straight on to the
page.
To finish the page, a bit of rose gold glaze was diluted/watered down so
that it resembled water color, and then used to create small splatters around
the page.
It was a bit of a challenge to create a multiple picture layout, but I
am happy with how it turned out. All the
layers of mixed media magic create the perfect background for the fun pictures
of my girls. Here is a video that will
show you a more in depth look on how the page was created:
Cannot wait to see what you create with all of Vicki’s All the Good
Things collection.
