Good Cheer

Scrapbook Layout created for Simple Stories  -  GOOD CHEER -

Hi Simple Stories friends!
Nathalie with you today with a  festive page that is sure to bring the Christmas Cheer to your holiday season.  The new Simple Vintage Christmas collection from Simple Stories is a beautiful combination of vintage elegance with classical colors and layered details, and the perfect collection to create a sweet keepsake of last year's Christmas memories.

I started by creating the Holy frame using a cut file (Citrus Twist Kits) and backing it with papers from the 6x8 paper pad, having the same patterns as the papers but in a smaller scale makes it ideal to back the leaves of the frame.

The frame was then handstitched to the Be Merry paper - i added a few stamped images so that faint script of the paper shows through the background-, and then trimmed to size.  This was then glued to the Believe paper.

Once it was all set up, i used the layered frames to add my pictures to the bottom of the page ( i cut one of the double frames, so that they both can fit at the corner of the frame).
There are so many beautiful stickers, tags, and pieces of ephemera to chose from that it makes it so simple to add details in clusters around the layout

To finish this page, I followed the layered look of the collection design to create the title for this layout at the top left corner of the frame.  To finish a few drops of gold and white ink, lines of journal will be added to the back of the page later on.

The beautiful Simple Vintage Christmas from Simple Stories is not just gorgeous, but also versatile and packed with so many details you will fall in love with each piece.   Remember to check it all out!

See you all soon!

Humbled by Your Creation

Bible Journaling for Citrus Twist Kits  - HUMBLED BY YOUR CREATION -

Hi there!

It is almost time for  a new set of kits from Citrus Twist Kits (and they are gorgeous), and since we are entering the Advent season, i was inspired to create an entry all about God's love for us.  He truly is a loving God who created perfection for us even wehen he knew we were weak and will fail.

For this page, I pulled my Pinkfresh Studio watercolors, to create a late night sky.   I had been reading Genesis throughout the day, and before going to bed, i decided to use all my gratitude for the day to create this entry.

Once the background dried, I went ahead and added some doodle stars using the yellow paint included in the Grace Box, and also used  my white jelli pen to doodle some starbursts and add more stars with  more specific words of what i was thankful for that day.  Then cut the gold star trim, and glued each one around my sky.

It was such a clear night that the sky outside my window actually showed stars,  so i turned my prayer into the title for this entry.  For that i used the alphas -from Pinkfresh Studio- and some GraceBox stamps to add sentiment to the page.

To finish the page, i added a small reflexion on the day, and how the grandeur of it al just fills my heart with hope of what he has created for us, and even more of what awaits for us once Jesus calls us to his side.  Here is the completed entry:

I love how this turned out, especially since this has become one of the first entries you see on my journaling bible.  The contents of this month's CTK Grace Box are truly so versatile that i cannot seen to be able to put it down.

Remember to check Citrus Twist Kits for the new kits -being revealed in a few days- and all the other kits and stamps available.   Please let me know if you have questions on how this was put together.

December Joy

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  - DECEMBER JOY -

Hello everyone!

I hope you all are getting ready for the new Holiday season!  I picked the new Holiday Vibes collection from Pinkfresh Studio as it arrived at Scrapbook Nerd store, and decided to use to record this sweet memory of my kids a few years ago at our local neighborhood Santa Claus Parade.

I pulled a new cut file from Handipaper to create the title for this page, and cut if from white cardstock.  The 6x6 paper pad is the perfect size to back the flowers and leaves of the cut out.  In addition, a bit of vellum was also used to back the small berries of the cut out; these were then lightly colored with alcohol markers on the backside.

The title was propped on the Let It Snow paper from the collection and then a few details were added to each of the corners of the title.  The little "Joy" word completes the title for this layout.

I decided to back the picture with some vellum and one of the 6x6 papers and the nestled the picture underneath the cut out.   A few embellishments were added just to frame the picture, and a pocket was also created behind it so that a small tag can be added with all my journal lines.

To complete my visual triangle, i decided to use one of my Knock out punches to create the scalloped edge, then glued a piece of the Home for the Holidays paper behind it.  A few pieces from the 6x6 paper pad were fussy cut to create a small cluster and then a sticker from the Pinkfresh Studio Oh Joy collection was added.  Here is the final layout:

I hope this inspires you to start your Christmas memory keeping, remember that you can always contact me if you have questions on how this was put together.
There are lots of new and seasonal products arriving daily at Scrapbook Nerd so, make sure you stop by to check all of them, and all the ones used in this project.

Altenew November 2018 Stencil/Ink Spray Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hi there!
Welcome to the Altenew November 2018 Stencil/Ink Spray Release Blog Hop + Giveaway, you should have arrived from Therese's blog.

I am so happy to have been invited by Altenew to be part of this release, as the new ink sprays and stencils are so beautiful and so much fun to use in different ways.  As  a mixed media lover, the new inks and stencils are the perfect way to add that creative flair to projects.  Let me share with you what i have created for this blog hop:

For this first project, i used the Flowing  Buterfly stencil with the Cosmic Berry ink spray along with some Vicki Boutin Acrylic Gel to create the flying butterflies for this page.   I chose to add some white ink spray, also from Altenew, to create the ombre effect of the butterflies on the page.

The Wavy Grid stencil is probably one of my favorite stencils from this release.  This time i used it to stamp some Lagoon Ink Spray onto the cardstock and form the background for this page.  The following video will show you how this all came together:

Love the ombre effect of the butterflies,  the ink sprays are so easy to work with and can be used on so many projects with different results in each.  Just like in the next project.

For this card, i chose to use the Flower Mandala stencil and the Cosmic Berry Ink Spray to create the background of this card.  First, I used a watercolor brush to apply the ink to a piece of heavy cardstock through the flower stencil, i made sure to mask the edges of the card so that they can frame the card.

The inks were also used to color in the flowers images from the Always There stamp set that are layered with some leaves from the Leaf Canopy stamp set.  The sentiment comes from the PLayful Bloom stamp set.   Just love the color combination, and all the layered details, and now this card was the inspiration for the last project.

This layout features the Wavy Grid stencil and  the Misty Mountain, Lagoon, Sunkissed and Cosmic Berry ink sprays in one page, as well as the Always There Stamp set, Leaf Canopy Stamp set, VIntage Rose stamp set, Collecting Memories stamp set.

I started by creating the Wavy Grid stencil with gesso on the background, then added the inks to create the watercolor look of the background.   Then the inks were used to color the stamped leaves and flowers that are layered around the picture.  The following video will showcase how this all came together:

The color combination, texture and dimension of this page is just the perfect background for this beloved memory.

I hope you are all inspired to stop by the Altenew store to check all the new releases available,  You will love each and every one of them!  And now onto the sweetest part of the blog hop, the giveaways.

Be A Little Crazy

Scrapbook Layout created for Vicki Boutin DT  - BE A LITTLE CRAZY -

VB_BE A LITTLE CRAZY_Nathalie DeSousa-3

Hello everyone!
Nathalie with you today with a new project that combines stamping, different mediums and a super fun memory into this colorful page.  Can i say that the Holiday/winter memory keeping has started with this page!!

VB_BE A LITTLE CRAZY layout_Nathalie DeSousa

The background of this page was built solely with stamps!  I started with a gessoed foundation paper, and added some circle stamps using water down acrylic paint.   The almost watercolor texture of the paint help create the bokeh effect in the background.  I used different cool tones of the acrylic and circle stamps to create the triangle shape in the background. Once the paint dried, I followed the stamping frenzy with the cool color wheel and the different shapes in the Escape stamp set.

VB_BE A LITTLE CRAZY_Nathalie DeSousa

To add dimension, first i mixed some art crayon (neutral set) to create watercolor and then used it to stamp the script image (All The Good Things collection) on the background.  Next, a bit of white acrylic paint was added through a stencil using the foam applicator.   A few drips of the same watercolor used in the script stamping followed, and the last step was adding a small black rim -using a fine black liner- around some of the white acrylic paint circles. LOVE THIS!!!

I found this picture of my kids playing in the snow in my files, and love how it matched the background, so i used some papers and embellishments from the Field Notes collection to create the layers and clusters around it.  I made sure to stay within the same color  family and shapes.   Since i came about Vicki's sticker book this week, I also added some of those images to the clusters.

To use the shape of the background and add movement to the layout -following that of the picture-, I distress the top left corner of the background, and added the clusters following the diagonal line.  Then distress the bottom right corner to complete the line, here i added a last cluster filled with stickers from the Field Notes collection and Sticker book.  A few lines of journal, and some black ink drops complete this page.

LOVE how this turned out!  Some times less is more, and in this case, layers of stamping is all that was needed to create the mood of this page.  The following video will show you how it all came together.

Remember to check all of Vicki's releases and mixed media line at your local or online scrapbook store, and if you have questions on how this was put together, please do not hesitate to contact me.   I cannot wait to see what this page inspires.

Christmas Cards in Minutes

Christmas Cards in Minutes  for Scrapbook Nerd

Hi there!

let the Christmas season oficially start! YAY!!!

This week we have been asked to create a Christmas cards for our weekly inspiration post for Scrapbook Nerd, and since it has been a super busy week for me, I decided to create this set of cards using cut files and pre made embellishments.  I don't know about you, but somedays simple is better.

This first card was created using a cut file from the Silhouette Store.  I purchased a wide range of color cardstock from Scrapbook Nerd a while ago, and this time, i pulled the navy one to create the base of the card.  Next I added a frame of white gold cardstock using a bit of foam adhesive for dimension, and then added the cut out using a thicker foam adhesive so that it is higher than the frame.  To finish I added a sentiment from the Pinkfrsh Studio Oh Joy collection, and a few star sequin to the tree.

For this card, I decided to cut a wreath file from Paige Evans on white cardstock and white gold cardstock and layered then on top of craft stock.  Then propped the sentiment -from the new Pebbles Bright and Cozy collection- with some foam adhesive on top of the wreath.  A few drops of white ink complete this card.

This last card was created using white gold cardstock to cut the snowflake from a Handipaper cut file,  then I created the vellum sleeve to fit a paper from the Bright and cozy collection from Pebbles.  Next I used some glue dots to attach the glitter heart from Prima Marketing's Santa Baby collection, and then the sentiment from the Pinkfresh Studio's Oh Joy collection.

In total, with cutting time included, the set  took me less than 30 minutes to put together.  Easy, peasy!

You can check all the materials at Scrapbook Nerd, there is  a huge sale going on now, so make sure to stop by!

Let the Holiday season begin!

Thankful for this Bond

Scrapbook Layout created for JustNick Studio -THANKFUL FOR THIS BOND-

Hello and Happy Thanksgiving to all our American Friends!
Nathalie with you today with a new layout that celebrates the sweet and special bond between humans and pets.  We love our baby so much, and he loves us just as much that i decided to pull a few of the beautiful JustNick studio cut files to create this new page.

I wanted something soft for the background, so i decided to hand stitch the  Heart Strings Background with white thread, and then back the heart spaces with colorful hearts cut from the  new Whimsical collection.

The curvature of the lines brings so much movement to the layout; and the space  created with the stitching was the perfect spot to add some sentiments using the collection's rub-ons or stamped images -that correspond to respective heart color-.

To create the title of this page, the Gratitude cut file was used to cut the word 'Thankful' from white cardstock.  This was propped on some foam adhesive onto the layout's background.

Once the picture was placed on the page, i used a few of the Whimsical collection flower ephemera to create clusters around the page.   To bring more of the cool tones to the page (tried at best to tone block the clusters), I  had to use the Stems 2 cut file to cut some extra leaves from white cardstock,  These were then colored with watercolor so that they take the hues in the hearts.

This page is so full of texture and movement.   The color of the hearts bring plenty of color and interest to this page, and i just love how it all works together!   Remember to stop by JustNick Studio store to check all these cut files.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Have a blessed day!
