Real Life Captured

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  - REAL LIFE CAPTURED -

Hello!

It is time for my weekly share for Scrapbook Nerd, and if you are a parent of a teenager then you will understand how hard it is to photograph them.   Well at least my kids are!  they are at the stage where the smile lasts 2 seconds, and then the frown last the day.   So i decided to make lemonade out of lemons, and created this page about this so awesome moment in their lifes.

I started by using a cut file from The Cut Shoppe, and backed it with papers from Pinkfresh Studio's A Case of the Blahs collection.  I truly love how on point this collection is especially when dealing with my failed days.

Before laying down the cut out on the mat (Bazzill embossed cardstock), I used a bit of Vicki Boutin's art crayon just to pop the colors of the stars.   A bit of foam adhesive adds dimension on this page, and creates that soft shadow on the background.

The clusters around the picture are made up of stickers and ephemera from the collection, and also from the Mix2 and Let your Heart Decide, both from Pinkfresh Studio.   A few extra details were added using the collection stamp.

For the title of this page, I used a combination of the collection's ephemera and alphas from the Mix 2 collection.   A few extra stamped sentiments and some lines of journal complete this page,

I cannot but chuckle every time i see the picture, and i think having the stars around the picture just makes it sillier.  Truly a clear representation of life with teenagers!

You can check all the  materials used in this layout at Scrapbook Nerd, there are so many new things arriving daily!

As always, I am around if you have questions on how this came together, just leave a comment, and i will be happy to assist you.

Til next time!

Love Today

Scrapbook Layout created for JustNick Studio  - LOVE TODAY -

Hi there!
Nathalie back with you with a new Summer Layout that combines a few of the beautifiul Just Nick Studio cut files and mixed media.   I found this picture of my sister and niece on the baby's first trip to Cuba, and wanted to take advantage of all the Summer colors to document it.

The colors of my girls bathing suits was the starting point for the background of this page.   So a bit of Vicki Boutin watercolor, gesso and iridiscent paste create the watery teal color in the background.

While the mixed media dried, the Tin Tile was used to create the lace-like cut out.  All i did was to move the limits of the cut file, so that it fits to a 12x 6 in. so that it can sit on the middle of the page.   This was then attached to the background with a bit of foam adhesive.

The title was created from the negative pieces of the Word Brushstroke cut file.  I had created a set of these brushtrokes for another project, and kept the word cut outs aside. A bit of gold watercolor makes them stand out on the page.

To frame the picture, clusters of ephemera and stickers from Fancy Pants' Hello Sunshine, Pink Paislee's Birhtday Wishes, and Crate Paper's WIld Heart were created around the picture.  I added a water colored leaf from the  Stem 4 cut file was added to elongate the lower cluster on the page.

I love how this page turned out.   The colors of the background are fresh and inviting, and all the small details just complement the summer feel of the page.

Remember to stop by the JustNick Studio store to check for all the cut files used in this page,  and do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions on how this came together.

My Personal Jourrnal - WEEK 24

Hi there!!

It is amazing to see how much life changes day to day.   We are going from final exams for the kids to having a major kitchen reno so i totally forgot to update my blog with the entries for week 24.  So here we go:

I have been trying at best to put a dent in my CTK kits (though they are so lovely, i have lots of material arriving) so I used pieces from the June, July main and PL kits to create some of the entries this week.

As you can see we have a bit of World Cup fever, so be prepared to see lots of POrtugal jerseys in the next few weeks!

I love working in hybrid entries for my TN. Having digital stamps and cards from both CTK and In A Creative Bubble is a practical way to add  entries in my journal in a short time.  Plus they are easy to combine with any stamp, too!

Well that is for me today,  i will be back in a bit with the entries for week 25.

Take care!

Bloom

Scrapbook Layout created for Simple Stories - BLOOM -

Hi there!
Nathalie with you today with a new super sweet and simple layout featuring the new Simple Stories BLOOM collection.  This collection is rich in all positive vibes, a beautiful color palette, and my favorite: florals!!

The b-side of the Sn@p Basics Walnut/Cream dot paper was used as the mat for this layout.   Then two large strips of the Happy Times and Today's the Day from the Bloom collection were stitched to the mat.

To bring out a bit of the teal color in the collection, a little bit of mixed media was added to the background, just enough to peek under the picture.  The picture was then layered with papers from the collection and glued to the page.

All the florals in the papers of this collection, as well as in the stickes and ephemera pieces made it so easy to create clusters around the picture.   A bit of fussy cutting the Happy Times paper florals was all that this page needed to shine.

But the Bloom collection also is packed with beautiful quotes and icons (ephemera and stickers) that can easily be added to your projects, in this case, these helped convey the sentiment of the page.

To finish this page, the chipboard sticker ('BLOOM') was used.  The choice to flip the title was made so that it balance the line that the stitched papers form behind the picture.

I think my line, "love how this turned out", would fit this properly, but honestly this was so easy to put together and the results are truly beautiful.   The BLOOM collection is perfect to document those enlighting life moments. I cannot wait to see what you create with it!

XO

Sweet Day

Scrapbook Layout created for Citrus Twist Kits  - SWEET DAY -

Hi there!

Nathalie with you today to bring you this week's 3-to-Inspire post.  By now most of you (hopefully) have received your gorgeous Cypress kits, and have started to dig into all the goodies included in the kits.   So how about a few prompts to make your next project a bit easier!.  This week's prompts are:

  • Create a banner
  • Use some fussy cut elements
  • Document a picture of yourself

Here is what i have created using these prompts:

This month's cut apart digital sheet, as well as the ephemera pack (from Elle's Studio in the main kit, and Pinkfresh Studio in the add on kit) had many tags and labels in them, so i took advantage of them all to create a banner on the 8.5x11 white cardstock.

A piece of grey jute cord (Maya Road) was wrapped around the cardstock, and all the tags, and flags were strung and glued on one side of the banner, so that the picture could be place also in the banner.

Once the picture was set,  a few floral motifs were fussy cut from the 'Promise' paper from Shimelle included in the Cypress kits, and then used to create a large cluster around the picture.  The foam glitter thickers from Crate Paper  help to complete the cluster, and marry the page to the design on the patterned paper that is used as background for this page.

I used the same fussy cut florals and foam glitter stickers to create the title of this page.  Some of the pieces were placed outside of the white cardstock so that they tie into the background.  To finish the page a few sentiments were added using the main kit stamp set,  followed by some journaling lines and gold ink droplets.

The following video will show you a more in-depth look at how this page came together.

I really enjoyed working with a smaller format, and then adapting it to fit my regular scrapbook albums, but having the threee prompts made it so much easier to create this page about a beautiful Summer day here in the Toronto.

Now is your turn to use the prompts to create a project of your own.  Remember to share your creations on the Citrus Twist Kits Friends page on Facebook, or on social media (please tag @citrustwistkits) .   I look forward to see how you interprete the prompts in your pages.

Til next time,

Nathalie

Adventure

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  - ADVENTURE -

Hi there!

Today I am up on the Scrapbook Nerd blog with this new project about reinventing patterned paper to create a focal point.

I created this page using one sheet of patterned paper and a bit of hand stitching that complements the page, and also adds direction to the focal point of  the layout.

The lines of the page create  strategic places where clusters of ephemera and stickers.   This layout features the new My Mind's Eye collection, "WANDER" so i played with all the add ons in combination wtih some Pinkfresh Studio's Let Your heart Decide collection.

The title of this page was created by altering a cut file from JustNick Studio.  All the papers from the collection were used to back the cut, and then a large cluster of ephemera complete the page.

This page took very little time to come together, and the results are fun, and very clean.   As always you can reach me for more info on the page, or stop by the Scrapbook Nerd blog to check all the details on how this was created.

Take care!

Love You

Scrapbook Layout created for JustNick Studio  - LOVE YOU -

Hi there!
Nathalie with you today bringing a new layout that combines a few of the  Just Nick Studio store's beautiful cut files to create a page all about how much i love my baby (and yes, he is  our doggie!)

To create the background of this page,  the new Funky Floral Background 2 was used.   I isolated just one of the images, and then  resize a few copies of the image to create the cascading flower look of the background.

To bring color and dimension to the page, I chose to back all teh flowers with papers from Paige Evans Pick Me Up collection, and then fold the emds of the petals, so that they create the illusion of real petals on the page.

To frame the picture in this layout, first i layered a few pieces of paper behind it, and then used the Ring Around My Heart background cut file to create a small cut out (from white cardstock and one of the collection's papers) that could be used as a layer/frame around the picture.

To create the title of this page, I chose to cut the "Love You" sentiment from the  You Make My Heart Smile design from two different papers from the collection.  Then glued them together with an offset, and prop them up with some foam adhesive on the layout.

Just love how easy and and colorful this page turned out.  I love the cascading florals in the background and the color combination of the rest of the cut outs created with the beautiful Just Nick Studio cut files.

Stop by the JustNick store to check these cut files and the many more designs available.

Thanks for stopping by!
