Autumn

Scrapbook Layout created for Simple Stories  - AUTUMN -

I am up on the Simple Stories blog with two new projects, here is the second one:

Have I mentioned, I love FALL!   One of my favorite things to do at fall time is take long walks around the river bank.  My baby (our Boston Terrier) is my most loyal companion, even when i am taking a few pictures of leaves along the way.  So I set to create a layout that captures our daily walks:

For this page, I wanted to bring a bit of the outdoors in; that meant recreating some of the foliage for the page.   For this, I used the Cut Shoppe's "Leaf It To Me" cut file to create leaves from some of the 6x8 papers.

While the machine cut the leaves and vellum to back each leaf,  a  colorful background was created on watercolor paper that had been stitched to the "Happy Life" paper from the collection.  I made sure to add the mixed media just to the area where the picture and leaves would be placed.

Once it was all dried, the page came together rather easily.   Once the leaves were put in place - I used foam adhesive, glue and pop dots to attach the leaves in place), the picture was then nestled a the bottom right corner of the mixed media.

To continue the flow of the leaves's trail, clusters of stickers and ephemera were created at the corners of the picture that was set on the leaves.

All the small details in the stickers, and ephemera pieces of this collection are perfect to bring the fall colors in the picture to the page.  I just love the end look of this page!

Don't you just love the versatility of this collection?!  What can i say, it is FALL PERFECT!  I hope you all are inspired to use the  Simple Stories Vintage Blessings collection to document those close to the heart moments in your life!

Remember you can always contact me if there is any questions on how this came together.

See you all soon!

Family

Scrapbook Layout created for Simple Stories  - FAMILY -

Happy Fall, Y'all!!

I am up on the Simple Stories blog with two new projects all about my favorite season.  Here is the first one.

In case you have not notice, I love Autumn!, and what better way to document it  that by using the new Simple Stories Vintage Blessing collection     The colors, designs, and overall feeling of this collection are perfect, especially for all those family portraits, and colorful nature shots, but better yet let me show you:

For the first project, i pulled a picture of my kids, the littles, and my younger sisters to create a page all about this new family generation.   I am a sucker for large titles, so I set to build one that could combine as many of the colors and patterns of the collection in one.

Using a simple font from the Silhouette store, I cut each letter from the word family out of papers from the 6x8 paper pad.   At the same time, i used the Silhouette Software to weld the letters together (just in the screen), and then use the formed word to create an offset -the white base of the title- where i could glue the letters together.

I glued the letters to the white cardstock base, and used some hand stitching to secure it all together, add texture, and bring the handmade feeling of the collection to the page.

To bring in more of the vintage feeling of the page, i glued one of the papers from the Wood and Gingham 12x12 paper pad to the "So Thankful" paper.    I was careful not to add glue around the lines of the  wood grain design, and instead used an exacto knife to carefully slit the paper open, and  stressed the edges of each wood slat.

There are so many beautiful stickers and die cuts in this collection that it was so easy to combine them into clusters around the page.  Here is the final layout:

The final look of this page is simple, yet full of color and different textures.   The perfect combination to safe keep a moment in our family's life.  But now, let me show you how the same collection can be used to document the beauty of the season.

Lovely Silly Smiles

Scrapbook Layout create for JustNick Studio - LOVELY SILLY SMILES -

Hi there!
Nathalie with you today with a new layout that brings to life what happens every time i try to take picture of my daughter and her friend.   Since, these are the best smiles i would get from both at the same time, I decided to document the picture using a few cut files from the Just Nick Studio store.

For this page, I chose to combine a few cut files, and techniques.   First I used the  Stack Em Up Background to create the background for this layout.   While the Cameo was cutting the file, I used a bit of mists to create a water color background that will fit behind the cut out.

Once I attached the water color background to the cardstock base, I used a bit of foam adhesive to attach the cut out to the base, thus creating that soft shadow on the background.

Next, I used the beautiful "Boho Florals 2" to cut a few motifs from white cardstock, and used papers from Maggie Holmes's Carousel collection to back some of the flowers  in the cut outs.

I used a bit more of foam adhesive to attach the picture and all the floral motifs to the page.   Then used embellishments from different Crate Paper collections to embellish and create clusters around the page.

I love the final look of this page.   It came together rather easily, and it is simple and beautiful.  I hope this inspires you to take a look at all the designs available at the JustNick Studio store,  there is so many designs to chose from.   Remember  I  am a comment away if you have questions on how this came together.

Take care!

My Personal Journal

Traveler's Notebook layout created for Scrapbook Nerd - MY PERSONAL JOURNAL -

Hi there,

My fascination with journaling and notebooks comes from an early age.  I think I have been enamored with paper for as long as i can remember, and then there were the stamps... Be still my heart. So today, I want to share what  is commonly used in my TN to document my every day, and used a combination of my favorite techniques to create this page for Scrapbook Nerd.

Since I wanted to document my kids's 1st day of school, I reached for some mixed media paper, and punched the edge to create the look of a notebook page.  Then used the Tim Holtz stamping platform to create a graduating color stamp look.  I used Distress Oxides, and Pinkfresh Studio's Lovely Borders 2 to create the page.  The title for the page comes from a sticker from Pinkfresh Studio's Dream On Washi booklet.

To cover the other side of the page, I used Pinkfresh Studio's Dream On collection paper, and then matted the pictures on papers from the 6x6 paper pad from the Daydreamer collection from Kaisercraft.   The pictures were glued to the page, and then i used the So Fancy Stamp from Pinkfresh Studio to add a small detail in between pictures.

The look of the layout before opening the flap.

Since I wanted to add lots of  journaling about this day, I used some washi tape (Carpe Diem from Simple Stories) to  attached the stamped paper to the page of the TN.

When you open the flap, there is a picture of my kids hard at work.  I am a fan of Digital Stamps for documenting on my TN, so i used one of Ali Edwards stamps to add the sentiment to the picture, and then added some stickers from the Daydreamer collection from Kaisercraft.   The journal was then created using a combination of digital stamps from Kerri Bradford Studio, and my typewriter.  Here is the  completed layout:

This page came together super easy and fast with the help of the digital stamps, and the stamping platform.  Remember that all the supplies are available at Scrapbook Nerd ( not the digital stamps!), and I a comment away if you have questions on how this page came together.

See you all soon!

Summer Fun

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd  - SUMMER FUN -

Hi there!

It  feels like Summer does not want to leave Toronto, just yet!  Since, I cannot fight the weather, then better join it and make the best out of it.   So, i am going to scrap  a few of my summer memories in the next few days!!!

I created this background using Distress oxides and some Heidi Swapp colorshine.   There was no set idea on what i was going to  place on top, so i just had fun with some ink.

I found this picture of my daughter upset at the sun during one of our outings, and thought it fit my mood completely, so I set it on top of the mixed media, and layered pieces of fussy cut flowers, and ephemera at clusters in 2 corners of the picture.  The title came from on the of the cards from the SUMMER FUN collection from Echo Park (which is featured in this layout) that i picked up from Scrapbook Nerd On line store.

To complete the visual triangle of this page, i added a small cluster of embellishments at the bottom of the picture.  Here  is the completed layout:

This layout summarizes how i feel about Summer...  It is gorgeous, but it is time to go!   I hope you use this as inspiration.  Remember to check Scrapbook Nerd for all the materials used in this project.  I am always a comment away if you have questions on how this came together.

Take care!

My Personal Journal

Traveler's Notebook  -  MY PERSONAL JOURNAL -

Hello there!

I am so happy Autumn is here! I love the season, and all the colors and textures it brings.  It is also the season, I document the most, which means my TN gets a lot of love, and gets chunkier as the season progresses.  Here is a new post i created  -I am trying my best to be chronological correct this time around- using some older supplies.

I created my own insert this time around, so I am using papers from Maggie Holmes Gather collection to create the pages of the TN.

There is so many pieces of ephemera in this collection, I decided to use them to complete the page.   So I simply layered pieces and pictures of our last day of summer.

I love how all the pieces are layered, and thought the journal would make the page heavy, so instead, I hid it in one of the tags that is layered under one of the pictures.  Here is the final layout:

I hope you find some inspiration on this page, I am so hoping to keep to chronological order this time.  Let me know if you have any questions on how this came together.

Take care!

Magical Moments

Scrapbook Layout created for Maya Road - MAGICAL MOMENTS -

Hello Roadies!

Nathalie with you today!   I  hope you all are doing well, now that the kids are back in school, and hopefully you have more time to get crafty.

Today, I am bringing you a new layout created using a few Maya Road products and a bit of mixed media.   This month's focus is Kraft products -there are so many beautiful kraft goodies to chose from at the store-, so I tried to incorporate a few small kraft details in my page.

I wanted to create a simple page to document a special moment between my youngest kids, so I set to play with a bit of distress oxide inks and gold modelling past to create a soft background for the page.

Once the page was all ready, a small kraft envelope was placed on the bottom right corner of the page.   A few pieces of ephemera from Maggie Holmes' Carousel collection were then inserted in the envelope.  Using the Geometric Feather die, a few  feathers were cut from one of the papers from the collection, and then inserted in the envelope.  Next a small token from the Snapshot Wood Token set was added to the outside of the envelope, and the small banner sticker -that serves as the title- complete this cluster.

The picture was attached to the opposite side corner of the page.  A small Kraft Post Tag was added behind the picture amongst the cluster of ephemera at the top corner of the picture.  A small piece of Ken Oliver Vintage Trim Seam Binding was then colored with some gouache, tied in to  a bow, and then attached to the kraft tag.

A small cluster was also created at  the bottom corner of the picture using the Geometric Heart, and the With Love Nature Die bundle were used to die cut some pieces from some of the papers in the collection.   A bit of foam adhesive secures the heart to the picture and the layout.  Here is the final layout:

The end look of the page is so simple, colorful and full of textures.  I love it!  Sometimes it takes a few touches here and there to complete the page.  All the MAYA ROAD products added to the page just add to the feeling and look of the page.  I am always a comment away if you need assistance with anything in this layout.

See you all soon!
