Donut Delight

Scrapbook Layout created for Clique Kits - DONUT DELIGHT -

Hello Friends,

Happy New Year to you all!   May 2016 be just a jump start to a blessed new year.  I am sure there are lots of new adventures to embark on 2017!

To start the year, I am up on the Clique Kits blog with a new  layout using the "Hey,Sugar" kit.  I love this kit, even when there is  a lot of pink in it, but the papers, add ons, embellies and cut files are so lovely, that I decided to use all of it in this layout.

The donut cut file was the inspiration for this layout.  I started by printing the image (using the Silhouette software) in my printer,  I transfer the image with pencil onto tracing paper, and used it as  guideline for my paper pieces.  Using watercolors and watercolor paper, i created this circles that simulate the donut dough.

Once dried, I used a circle cutter to cut the circles based on the trace paper guideline.   Mean while, I isolated the "donut's icing" image on the Silhouette, and cut papers from the kit with this image.

I used all the paper pieces to create these "donuts".   A little bit of hand stitching secures the pieces together, and adds texture to the page..

To recreate the sprinkles on the donuts, I cut some of the puffy stickers in the Hey, Sugar  kit to look like little sprinkles.   Using different thickness adhesive foam, I attached the donuts to the page.

The photo strip of my nephew eating just the sprinkles of a donut was nestled amongst the donut images.   I used some of the Heart Day embelishments, and 6x6 paper pad along with the Clique Kits exclusive printables to create clusters along the photo strip.

For the title, i played with the circumference of the donut to add the Heart Day alphas, and then combined them with  one of Fancy Pants' Joy Parade stickers (both included in the kit) to  finish the title.   I love the retro feeling of this title.  All my journal was written along the outer circumference of the donuts.  Here is the completed layout:

Don't you just love the clean and retro feeling of this page?   I love it, and it was all made using  the Clique Kit's "Hey, Sugar" kit.   So don't forget to stop by the Clique Kits website to check all the materials used here.

Traveler's Notebook - My Personal Journal

Traveler's Notebook spread created for Clique Kits  - My Personal Journal -

Hello there,

I hope you all enjoyed a Peaceful, and Merry Christmas!

Today, i am back in the Clique Kits blog with a post about how i used the beautiful (truly beautiful!) Hey, Sugar kit to create a few entries on my personal journal (I use Traveler's Notebooks to keep my personal notes, ideas, etc.).

The tissue paper used to packaged the kit was used as a background for this page.

Memorabilia can be re-purposed as a means to safe keep the feeling of the memory.

The simple Starbucks coffee cup was broken apart, and then cut to create this tag.

For my first page, I wanted to create a page all about my favorite holiday drink, a Starbucks Peppermint Mocha with no whipped cream and extra chocolate curls.  So i set off to break one of the coffee cups and created a tag where i could right my thoughts.   A way to safe guard all the memorabilia was by hand-stitching a pocket from one of the papers from the Hey, Sugar kit to the page.   All the embelishments, but the coffee cup clip come from the kit and its add-ons all available at Clique Kits store.   Here is a look at the completed page:

For my second page (which came together rather quickly),   I drew a heart shape using two continuous page,  i pierced holes along the edge of the heart and a few in the center spine of each page.  I used some embroidery floss and stitched the entire edge, and used some of the floss to create a sort of string art effect on each side of the heart.

I added the picture of my husband to the right hand side of the page, and used some of the exclusive Hey, Sugar kit printables to create layers behind the picture, and a small cluster at the bottom of the opposite page.

I added a few of puffy stickers from the Oh Joy collection from Fancy Pants which are included in this month's Hey, Sugar kit, as well as some of the stickers and labels from the kits add ons available at the Clique Kits store.   I then proceeded to add my journal along the edge of the heart.  Here is the complete page:

I am not a pink person, but the colors in the Hey, Sugar kit are just so beautiful and perfect to safe keep all my beloved memories.   Stop by Clique Kits to check all the papers and embelishments included in the kit.

Thanks for visiting today!

My Christmas Loves

Scrapbook Layout created for Maya Road   - My Christmas Loves -

Hello friends!

Today, I am pulling double duty all over social media!  Sometimes dates happen to coincide, and you just have to ride with the flow.

The next project was created for Maya Road's blog, which goes live today.  For this layout, I picked some of their beautiful products to recreate the feeling of a bough of mistletoe full of  decorations.   I started by gold embossing the wood embroidery hoops, and adding the white resin bows to the top of each hoop.   The pictures were then cut to fit inside the hoop.  A thin layer of vellum and fun foam serve as base for the picture.   A piece of candy cane jute twine cording was run through the hoop top handle, and a small gold crystal charm was added just to accent the gold and holiday feeling on the page.

To recreate the mistletoe sprigs, I used the Cut Shoppe's free cut file, "Under the Mistletoe".  I only cut the leaves and branches from the cut file using green watercolored paper.  To enhance the look of the sprigs, I added a few mini resin mums and pieces of a pearl flower trim ( all from Maya Road) to the end of the branches to mimic the berries at the end of the mistletoe branch.

After gluing the 2 cut outs to the page, I used a punch hole to create two small holes where i could thread some ribbon from.   I used a small piece of twine to attach a few tassels to the ornaments's strings, and tied it all together with a piece of Ken Oliver's Vintage Findings Seam Binding in white.

I trimmed a small piece of the mat on two intersecting sides, and stitched it to a patterned paper from the Comfort and Joy collection from My Mind's Eye,  Using a Rhonna Farrer cut file, i created a stitching template for the word Christmas, and hand stitched it using a combination  of red and white floss (to replicate the strings holding the ornaments).  A few gold alphas complete the title, and  the piece.   Here is the completed layout:

I think this layout is fitting to out lives, as both my kids are Christmas Babies ( they were born on the 23rd and 27th of December).  I love how this layout came together.

I will add a list of the Maya Road products used, with links to the new website, so you can browse through the lovely catalog of goodies.  As always let me know if you have any questions on how this came together.

Have a Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year!!

Hello there!

Today is share day over at Clique Kits, and this month it has been all about using the beautiful and versatile Wonderland kit, which features papers from Bella Blvd., and Pink Paislee's Moonstruck collection.     I have created a small video on how this page came together, please enjoy!

Here are just a few close ups of the layout:

Since the background of the layout is busy, and colorful, the clusters around the picture were kept simple.

The title of the page was created by combining one of this month's cut files with the Illustrated Faith alphas included in the kit.

Here is a look at the completed layout (all the materials used come from the Wonderland kit from Clique Kits.

Aren't the colors in this month's Clique Kits just beautiful.   The Wonderland kit was just to perfect to document this sweet moment between my two kids.

Thanks for visiting today, and don't forget to visit Clique Kits to check the Wonderland kit or the upcoming Hey Sugar kit!   Do not hesitate to contact me with any questions about this layout, or just to say hello!

Have a Blessed Holiday!

December Magic

Scrapbook Layout created for The Cut Shoppe  - DECEMBER MAGIC -

Hello friends!

It is starting to look a lot like Christmas!  A white Christmas, here in Toronto!.

I think even all our memory keeping is geared towards the holidays at this time of the year, so I am sharing with you all today, a new layout for the Cut Shoppe, using the newly released Stained Glass cut file.

To create the background of this layout, I isolated one of the circle shapes from the cut file. Since the outer circle of the image was the one connected to the rest of the circles, i simply deleted the outer circle, and using the draw tool created a new circle to encapsule the figure.   I made sure to make the new figure a compound path, so that i could copy and resize circles to my liking.

Using the Holly Jolly collection from Pretty Little Studio, and some vellum, I backed each of the shapes.  I played with dimension and color combination to back each piece;   once i cut the circles, i used an exacto knife to cut out the star shape from the middle of the circle.  All the patterned paper circles were added to the cut out with a piece of adhesive foam in between cut-out and paper, while the vellum circles were attached directly to the cut out.  I love the dimension this gives to the layout.

Since the picture of my kids and mom is  a few years back (when I used a point and shoot style camers), i converted the picture to black and white to get rid of all the color distortion.  I added pieces from the Holly Jolly collection in clusters around the picture.

I struggled with the title for this page, I had pulled a cut-out, but instead settled to using the word cut-outs from the paper collection.  A few gold ink splatters, and a few lines of journal complete the look, as follows:

I love how the detail in the cut file shines with the paper combination, creating small bursts of color where the vellum is used.

You can find the cut file in the Cut Shoppe Store (and if you use the code MERRY31, you will receive a 31% discount at checkout throughout the month of December).
Let me know if you have a question about how any of this came together.

See you all soon!

Bold Layout Series #3: Be You

Scrapbook Layout   - BE YOU -

Hello friends,

With the year coming to a close, I have been reminiscing of the good times this year brought us, and specially looking at how my kids have grown.  So i decided to create a bold layout for both of them and the baby (our doggie), all using Clique Kits' Wonderland kit.   This month's  kit is beautiful and versatile, a must for all your paper craft needs.

To start this layout, I printed the picture of my daughter to fit into a 8.5x11 sheet.   I chose to put the title within the picture, so I picked a cut file from the Silhouette store, and cut the picture and a white piece of card stock.   I glued the two pages together, and  layered a small piece of vellum behind the title.   I glued the picture to a paper from the Moonstruck kit featured in this month's Wonderland Kit .

To balance the title, I chose to create a large cluster of ephemera at the opposite (diagonally) edge of the picture.  I combined the exclusive stickers, and die cuts from Clique Kits's Wonderland kit with pieces from the Moonstruck collection, and Illustrated Faith's tabbies.  I added my journal lines along the empty space at the bottom of  the page.  Here is the final layout:

Once again, the large picture is a bold choice for a layout, so I chose so simplify the project to create a striking, but soft look to the page.   Once again, the beautiful Clique Kits's Wonderland kit was so versatile to complete this layout.

If you have time, check the other two posts of the Bold Layout series to see how i used the one kit to create 3 large picture layouts.

Bold layout series #2: Shine Bright & Smile

Scrapbook Layout  -  SHINE BRIGHT & SMILE -

Hello there!

As the year is winding down, we all start looking back at what we have accomplish through the year.  Since both my kids are Christmas babies, I spent the day looking at pictures of them throughout the year.   So,  I thought I create a layout for each of them  just as a reflection of our love for each of them.

To create this  layout i am using Clique Kits's December kit - Wonderland-.   If you follow my work, then you will know I love vellum!!, and the Moonstruck vellum in this month's kit was perfect to what i had in mind.   To create the background, I stitched the vellum to a 12x12 in white card stock page.

I printed the picture in a 8.5x11 in sheet, and layered fun foam behind the picture;  however i created a small pocket where i could hide my journal card -for this i used one of the glassine bags from the Wonderland kit package.  I simply glued the bag to the back of the picture, making sure it is located at the top left corner of the picture-.

Once I glued the picture to the mat, i used one of the journal cards from the Moonstruck collection die cuts to write a lengthy note to my son.  I stitched the small tab to the top of the card to make sure that it can be pulled out using it.   The rest of the die cuts, and stickers all come from the Wonderland Kit.

To continue the clean and bold look of the page, i used pieces from the Moonstruck die cut pack, and a cut file (whenever i am using the Cameo with a large cut file that will use more of the 12x12 in area, I add small words or icons that i could use in another project, and put it aside ) to create the title.   A few of the Wonderland kit exclusives were added to  complete the clean look of the page,  Here is the completed layout:

I love the bold and large design of this page.  It came together in a small amount of time, all due to the beautiful papers and add-ons  the Clique Kits' Wonderland collection had to offer.  Trust me you want to get this kit as it can work for both boys and girls layouts.  If you have time, just check the previous entry on this series to see how the kit was used to create bold layouts of my teens and my baby!.
