Life is Lovely

Scrapbook layout  for Scrapbook Nerd  - Life is Lovely -

A close up of the layout

Hello!

This is  my last layout for my reveal week at Scrapbook Nerd - I am enjoying working with the Design team and the lovely Barb and Joy -...

Since I had quite a few small pieces of paper left over after the layouts.  I decided to use them up by building a background for this layout.  I don't own circle punches, instead i have a circle cutter (it works as a spirograph / compass combination). which is what i used to cut  different size circles, and rings from all the leftover scraps.

The rings and circle arrangement for the background.

I arranged all the rings in random order on top of a 7x10 in piece of vellum.  Then i arranged clusters of circles on top of some of the ring intersections, making sure that the birds were the last circle on the stack.  I proceeded to sew the pieces together using the sewing machine.

I used a bit of hot glue to attach the vellum to the mat paper - the glue dots are placed behind the circle clusters and in some of the ring intersections).

Just a few embelishments suffice in the layout, as the background is very ornate.

The mat paper was chosen to match the colors of the picture.  Since the background has a lot of interest,  I chose to go for simplicity on embelishments and layers for the picture.

A simple tag (cut file from Silhouette) and a few fussy cut pieces
highlight the picture.

The title was formed using the glitter foam stickers from the same collection as the circle papers - Pink Fresh's Felicity Collection -.  To form the y in lovely, I cut the word loveliness into 'lovel' used the is , and formed the y from the n and remaining s.

Finally I added a  few journal lines  under the picture, and some puffy sequin stickers in the layout for some more interest.  I love the final result.  The quirkiness of the background works beautifully with the picture; the picture coordinates with the background colors, etc.  In all i really enjoyed creating this layout, and using all the small pieces left over from the other layouts.

The completed layout.

Till next time... Happy Crafting!!

My Week in pictures #15

It has been"magenta" week on my Capture Your 365 photo-a-day challenge..

Hello everyone!

it has been a rather super busy week and weekend in my household.  There has been renovations, appointments, shopping, games, and family visits all in a week.  Through it all, I always carried my camera with me -to the dismay of my kids-, so that i can capture a glimpse of the moment that rapidly gets written in our memories.  Take a look at the highlights of my week.

As always, i had to photograph food in some way this week.  A simple onion serve as my muse for the layer prompt of my photo-a-day challenge.  It takes a second to elevate the ordinary into extraordinary.

My kids are growing into teenagers, and slowly we are becoming less of a parent and more of a friend at times.  My Gabi now is able to express her desires, needs and wants;  so shopping is a way to bond and spar at the same time.  Here she is showing her latest purchase.

As always my little ones (niece, nephew and fur baby) provide plenty of opportunities to capture the moment. I enjoy capturing and later documenting the pictures .  Here is the littlest member of our family with his cousin. They love each other.

As soon as my nephew arrives, my baby follows him everywhere

One of the reasons for my sister's visit was to take my niece to the photo studio for Communion portraits. I sneak my camera to capture some of the poses, but the candid pictures at home were so much nicer and natural.

She looks beautiful and peaceful in this pose

Sadly we had to leave my mom with the visits as my son is wrapping up his indoors soccer season, and we have been at back to back games the entire weekend.  It is amazing to see his development through my lens..

What better way to close the week than with a beautiful sunset.  Though there are no beaches or landscape,  there are perks on being in the road (coming home from a soccer game) while the sun is setting in the city.

I hope you are also taking the time to enjoy the little moments life has to offer.  Sometimes the snapshot of your life seems insignificant, but with time it becomes a  cherished memory.

Enjoy your week.

See you soon...

My week in pictures #14

My entry for PRECIOUS on my Capture your 365 Photo-a-Day challenge.
He is my most precious gift...

Hello everyone,

It has been a busy week in my household.  God has been good -as always- and we all have been blessed with a peaceful and cherished week...  As always -and not just because I follow a Photo-a-Day challenge-,  there are a lot of pictures  that I could share with you.  Here is my week through my lens.

We love bread in this house,  each one has a particular type that they prefer.   I enjoy this loaf, it is an artisan ancient multigrain whole wheat variety.  It served as my muse for one of the challenge prompts this week..

Since the weather has been varying a lot this week, it has gone from cold and snowy to rainy and windy.  That has stopped us from venturing out.  So i have been having fun capturing my family at its most natural state.  Here is my daughter peeking on my husbands iPad searches...

Weekends are always busy for us, but i always try to make a little space in my agenda to breathe, and catch what is going on.  Here is my son and the baby while the rest of the family is not around ...

He actually smiled for me -no bribery needed-

Since my niece turned 8 this week, we gathered to enjoy some time together.  I always take this opportunities to snap a few pictures (180 to be exact),  these two are some of my favorites.

My sister and niece

Always have to photograph the birthday girl...  I took so many pictures, but i love this one so much, it is getting a scrapbook layout -coming soon-

My little niece

Finally, since Toronto still is getting snow -in the middle of April- we are spending a lot of time indoors.  I kill my time by  crafting especially scrapbooking.  My choice is always to put on some Netflix on tv, and start a hand embroidery marathon on one of my scrapbook paper layouts...

The magenta pops beautifully on this black and white background...

I hope you take the time to pick up your camera and capture your everyday, better yet check a photo-a-day challenge for some help on finding beauty on your everyday.

See you soon...

Project Life Week 11

PL  Week # 11

Hello everyone, i am so glad March Break is over here in Canada.  Our week was not a good one by far -it went from a kid and a dog in bed for days to having my main bathroom remodeled-.  Through it all I managed to photograph my everyday, even when our plans were dropped...  Here  is my album entry for the the week

My two page spread...

I discovered this smaller pages at my local craft store this week, and they work beautifully for weeks with a few pictures...  I used a variety of cards from different kits and puffy stickers to give my pictures some dimension...

A  close up of the puffy stickers.

I hope you are also documenting your life.... See you soon...
