Fun Family Time

Scrapbook Layout  - Fun Family Time -

a close up to the layout

Hello everyone!,

It has been a rather hard past few days.   There is a bug going around in my house, and it seems we all are sick with a cold or allergies, we don't even know anymore.   Now to happy things, i have been working hard at putting a dent on my spring/summer stash, so i chose Jillibean Soup's Healthy Hello collection to document a sweet picture of my little nephew and my father playing together.

For this layout, I wanted to also complete one of Scrapbook Nerd's summer camp challenges, Stargazing, so I chose this star cut file from Studio Calico to cut a few stars.  I used the pattern papers to back the stars, and used some machine stitching to secure the papers in place.

It was all about layers for the picture

The picture of my nephew and father was layered with papers and ephemera from the collection.  I used one of the circle paper pieces to add the journal lines  as part of the picture's cluster.

For the title,  I chose to continue the color scheme of the layout, and picked these two different alphas to complete the phrase.   Since the patterned paper had lots of circles on it, i added lots of sequin around to continue the pattern.

small details around the page.

To end the layout, I added a few extra clusters around the page, and sprinkled sequin along the page.  Here is the final layout:

I really like the colors on this layout, and how the picture sits perfectly in between the stars.  As always let me know if you have any questions about how this layout came together.

See you all soon!

#Besties

Scrapbook Layout created for  The Cut Shoppe  - #BESTIES -

Hello everyone,

I am back on the Cut Shoppe blog this week, with this layout that combines some of my favourite things:  cut files, stitching, and black & white pictures.   Here  is  small video on how the layout came together after the stitching was finalized:

When Ashley send the Design team, the new cut files coming to the store, I knew that the Oodles of Doodles will become one of my favorite cutfiles.   This time, I chose to use the curl shape to create the background for this layout.  I welded a few of the curls together, and used the sketch pens to draw them on white cardstock.  An offset was added to make sure all the curls were cut in one single image.  I used my paper piercer to create the holes of my stitching guide, and used a few hours of Netflix to stitch away.

I used thread that matched the colors in Pink Paislee's Fancy Free collection.

For my title, I used the Friends Forever cut file, and some gold glitter paper to cut the "#", "BESTIES", and "heart" shapes.  I double cut the word and #, and glued the two cut-outs together.

I used the heart shape cut-outs as part of the ephemera clusters around the picture.

After adding a few details around the page, i chose to write my journal around the entire shape of the cut-out.  Here is the final layout:

I hope this serves as inspiration to see the possibilities of a cut file.  Don't forget to visit the Cut Shoppe Etsy store to see all the cut files available.

Till next time,

Keep crafting!!

Be Happy For Today...

Scrapbook Layout - Be Happy For Today -

a close up to the layout

Hi there!

I have been hard at work -late at night, mostly- on a few projects, in hopes to put a dent on my paper stash.   This time, I am working with Amy Tangerine's Better Together collection to document a picture of my 3 kids early one morning (they had just woken up, and are wearing pjs on the photo).

I started by using the yellow card-stock from the digital collection, Sunny Side Up, from the Cut Shoppe.  Since it was printed to fit a 11x17 in paper, I trimmed it to fit into a 11x11 in.   To complete the 12x12 in page protector of the album, I used the sewing machine to add a large border to the entire page.  I used the different papers in the collection to create this triangle shapes (graduated triangles), and stitched them to the layout.

Th Acrylic piece of ephemera worked perfectly to form the title of this project.

I made sure the triangle shapes were stitched offset of each other, so that they pointed to both horizontal edges of the picture.   I chose to create a large cluster with stickers and ephemera pieces from the same paper collection.

the final layout.

To finish this project, i added a few rub-on stickers and stitched the printed lines of journal to the page.

This layout reminds me of  the layouts i created when i first was introduced to scrapbooks, and I love it!!

As always, let me know if you have any questions about how this page came together.

See you all very soon!

Always Together

Scrapbook Layout  - Always Together -

a close up of the layout

Hello there!,

All my pre-orders for the new collections are trickling in, and I am still trying to put a dent on my stash.  This time, I have chosen to work with Fancy Pants's "Good Fellow" collection to document  a picture of my family and in-laws on Father's Day.

A close up to the hand-stitched  background.

To create the background, I used the Cut Shoppe's Peace Out cut file to cut the circles out of the different papers on the collection.  Once cut, I glued the pieces onto white cardstock, making sure to alternate the patterns on each circle.  Using a piercing tool, the entire edge of each circle was marked to create a stitching pattern for each circle.  I chose to alternate the colors of embroidery floss used in each circle.

A close  up to the layout

Once the background was done, the picture was attached to the center of the layout.  A few clusters of stickers, cut outs and chipboard pieces were used to create clusters around the picture.  The rosette used in the layout was made with scraps from papers used in a previous layout.

For the title, I used the Alphas that were included in the collection kit.  Though the color is lighter that what i would have gone for,  I like that the tone matches the page perfectly.

the final layout

To finish the page,  added a few details around the edge of the page, and a few lines about when and where the picture was taken.

I really hope you like the layout,  I am off to keep using the last few days of summer break documenting my summer adventures.

See you around!!

Our Daily Routine

Scrapbook Layout  - Our Daily Routine -

a close up to the layout

Hello!,

As i wait for the orders (for all the new collections) to start arriving.  I have been working on making a dent on my stash.  This time, I chose Jillibean Soup Healthy Hello collection (one of my spring favorite collections), to document an everyday photo of my baby and I on our daily walks.

For this layout, I fussy cut the arrows from the paper, and glued them onto white cardstock making sure they were going around the page, but ended at the same spot.

Once they were all placed, I used a paper piercer to make a guide for some hand stitching to emphasize the idea of a road running through the arrows.  I added my title following one of the lines of the arrows.

Since there is a lot of color and movement on the page, I tried to keep my photo and its clusters very simple.   To finalize the page, I trimmed the edges by about half an inch, and stitched it to the same paper that contain the arrows on the design.  Here is the final layout:

I am hoping the new collections start arriving soon at my door step; until then, there is plenty of material and ideas to continue using up my stash.

See you all soon!

Our Sweetest Blossom

Scrapbook Layout - Our Sweetest Blossom -

a close up of the layout

Hello everyone,

I hope you all are enjoying the last days of summer vacation.  We are starting to ready all our stuff and lives for a new school year.  Particularly, I have been trying to also put a dent in my paper stash (since I have a lot of new collections on pre-order that soon will be arriving).   At the same time, one of my cousins recently had a baby girl, and i had to create a layout to capture the moment, please enjoy the video on how the layout came together...

I am trying to use as much of Pink Paislee's Fancy Free collection, so I have chosen two of the papers to complete this project.   First I cut up all the beautiful flowers out of paper #9, and created a flower cascade along the one side of the page.

the flowers were added with different glue and foam dots to add layers and dimension on the page.

Before gluing everything down, I used my Cameo  to create the title for this page.  Once the title was stitched, I proceed to color the words using some shimmer watercolors.

This picture was taken a few days after she was born, and was captured using a cell phone.  I chose to work with Adobe Lightroom to clean up the image.  I chose to add just a few pieces of ephemera  around the picture...

a close up to the layout.

Finally, I added just  a few notes on how it feels to be a long distance ncousin/aunt at the bottom of the page, along with some  other small details.  Here is the final layout...

I love how the papers worked on this page,  it took very little effort to put together.

Thanks for visiting today,

See you around!!

Always Be Yourself

Scrapbook Layout  created for The Cut Shoppe - Always Be Yourself -

Hello everyone,

It seems that time is flying by; we are ready to start a new school year here in Canada.   It is  a bittersweet time in our household, as our daughter will be attending to High School, she is not a little girl no more!.   This sentiment inspired this project; here is the video of how the project was created:

For this layout, I used my favorite collection from Illustrated Faith, "She Blooms".   Using the Cut Shoppe's  Open your Heart (only one of the hearts was enlarged and manipulated to just cut the folding side of the heart), the large folding 'heart' shape edge was cut.  To add interest to the cut out, one of the shapes in the  Oodles of Doodles  cut file was welded together to create this firework/lace paper that was layered under the cut-out part of the heart.

Machine stitching adds texture, and secures the pieces together.

The folded edge of the heart was also stitched to the page,  Using  an exacto knife, part of the design of the page was cut to create a pocket where the picture could fit.   I added paper pieces, stickers, and chipboard stickers from the collection to form all the clusters around the picture.

I made sure the heart dimensions and placement allowed the picture to fit
in this corner of the page.

To convey the  encouraging sentiment to the page, the title was created by isolating part of the Quick Quotes cut file.  Once cut,  the edges were drawn over with a thin black marker.

The title was attached using foam glue dots, ensuring the words are lifted off the page.

To finish the layout, a small prayer was added inside one of the white lines below the picture, and some small details added around the page..  Here is the final layout:

I love the final look of  the page, and my daughter has already framed it in her cork board...  I hope this inspires you to create using the beautiful designs from the Cut Shoppe.

Till next time,

Happy Crafting!

Good Times

Scrapbook Layout created for Creative Scrappers (sponsored by The Cut Shoppe) - Good Times -.

Hello all!,

It is so exciting to be able to share this layout (it has been ready for over 6 weeks) with you all...  The Cut Shoppe is sponsoring Creative Scrappers this month, and we -the design team- got to work with an amazing sketch  (#297) by putting our style into a layout.

Creative Scrappers Sketch #297  - used in this  layout-

It was fun to use the sketch to create a layout about my daughter and god-daughter when they were little girls, and love to play around the house.   Since I knew that i wanted a very girly design, i chose to use  the Flower Power cut file  in replacement for the circles in the sketch.  In addition, i used the linear division of the sketch to combine papers of the Bloom collection to  achieve the same look.   Please enjoy this small video on how the layout was created (I don't like voice overs, and trust me after 25 ++ years in Canada, I still haven't lost my Spanish accent)...

I stayed true to most of the sketch for the picture portion of the sketch, but replaced the stars and the journal tag with lots of flowers from the Bloom collection.  The title was created with the Let's Talk Summer cut file.

My beautiful little girls are framed by the title and lots floral cut-outs

Since i added a lot of stitching to this piece, i decided to replace the bottom circles from the sketch with stitched journal lines...

To finish the layout, I replaced the stars with butterflies from the same Crate Paper collection.  Here is the layout i have created using Creative Scrappers sketch #297 as inspiration...

My layout was created using Creative Scrappers Sketch #297 ...

I really loved this layout, and i hope you also find inspiration on the cut files designs from The Cut Shoppe, and  sketches from  Creative Scrappers...

Pool Side

Scrapbook Layout  - Pool Side -

Hello everyone,

I am always eager to use the new cut files from The Cut Shoppe,  this week's new releases featured this scallop pattern that just inspire me to create  a page to document this picture of my daughter on out Ecuador vacation.

a stitched large title (one of my fave techniques)

Since this layout started with the picture as inspiration, I used the  Cut Shoppe's Summer Fun and Sun cut file to create the title.  By setting the Cameo to perforate the words, and then cut them with a offset added,  i was able to obtain an easy guide for my stitching.  The title was then added with foam glue dots to the mat.

a close up of the background and picture.

To recreate the water movement and color, I used the Cut Shoppe's Sketchy Scallops to create the background.   I set the edit points of the cut file to a triangle to obtain the shape.  Once cut on white carstock, a light coat of different shades of blue shimmer watercolor were applied.     The picture is framed with pieces from The Cut Shoppe's Snapshot Digital collection.

close ups of the layout.

To complete the background, the cut-out was stitched to the layout so that the edges of the cut will lift to create  movement.  To add extra interest around the page, a small cluster was added at the corner of the cut-out using cut-out pieces from the Cut Shoppe's Snapshots Digital collection.

Here is a look at the completed layout..

I really love the colors on the layout, they scream summer and fun.  To check the cut files and the digital collection just click on the Cut Shoppe and you will be directed to their store.

As always let me know if you have any questions about the layout.

Till next time,
